I lived in the IE for about 7 years when I first got married. The Mad Platter location on Hole was a weekly destination. I don't know how long they were at the location near UC Riverside but I only went by there about 3 times in the last year or so, visits made easy by having a new client out that way. I bought a few things but in all honesty, the Rhino Claremont store far exceeds Mad Platter in every way. On any given day, Rhino rates in my book as the second best record store in SoCal, sometimes giving Amoeba a run for their money as number one.

Still, sad to see such a fixture go. Here's to the continued survival of Rhino Claremont.

Stuevts Hello, all you happy people.

    I thought this was coming.
With Rhino open and Mad Platter continued to stay closed.
Most likely the best place for vinyl in the Eastern IE....now gone.

Mad Platter was always a fun and much anticipated stop for me when I was traveling to or from the Mojave when visiting Southern Cal. I always found something cool there. I was hoping against hope that this wouldn't happen. This bums me out.

Watch for more. Big store near Denver called Black & Read lost the owner to death, I can't see it alive in 2021. Lots are just hanging on.
