I know this topic (or a simular one) comes up every now and then. I've done some searches but I've not found anything completly relevent so here goes...

We are trying to put a value on an old Magnavox Console Stereo my grandmother has. We have no idea when it was made. The lower left hand corner of the turntable say's "Made in England" and in the center is "Imperial". I imagine that the original purchase reciept is somewhere in this house (everything else is) but it will take some time to locate.

It has 3 labels on the back:
    Label 1:
    Model Number: 1ST233L
    Finish: MAH
    Serial Number: 0893067

    Label 2:
    Run 1 Number

    Label 3:
    Patent Applied For

ANY help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Matt

The two my parents had were made in the U.S. I threw 'em both on eBay. The older one sold for just over $100 to a "second chance" buyer. A collector in Florida actually won it and tried to find a delivery company to get it down to him, but it would have cost him several hundred dollars. :( The second one had a broken turntable, so it sold for only $15. It was in such nice condition though, I just didn't want to throw it out onto the street. (The new owner picked it up and was amazed that it looked almost brand new, and it was over 25 years old!) Sonically, neither one was all that great, but there are still buyers out there for them. So as far as a value, all I can think of is how much someone might pay for it.

I am parting my magnavox console out.
I saw a few magnavox woofers go for $50 each.
    I have Magnavox horns too.
I think I will pull the tubes out of the radio and sell them stand alone.
Hopefully I will get over $100 this way.
This guy wants $1300 I don't think so...

This parted out unit sold for $37 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50593&item=5706402815&rd=1
    Another $1,000 one

If you have to ship it, antiquetransport is probably the cheapest.
If you list it on ebay, start at your minimum price, because I do not think there are that many collectors of them. (I am guessing)
    Good luck,
    Clay
