No mention of One Better Day? It has a great chorus "...trying to remember, one better day..." which is then followed by the real, even better chorus "...walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine...". There's not many songs that have two choruses!
What do you guys rec for a good sounding Keep Moving? (on cd) Looks like a US Geffen and a couple old Euro's exist- An old Teldec German and a 'budget re-issue' thanks! Happy with the old Virgin Box for the earlier titles.
Just a fantastic song. I remember visiting Camden in the mid-80s hoping to find Madness goodies, vinyl, etc. Didn't find anything interesting but stumbled upon Arlington House and I swear it was like I just walked right into the middle of One Better Day. Everything pretty much as captured in the song.
This my go to version Madness - Keep Moving but would like to track down one of these to compare. Madness - Keep Moving Not sure if there would be any difference because I think they use the same master. Could be wrong though.
Nice - not as radically different as I was expecting. Love the organ that comes in after the bit where it slows down and starts up again towards the end
By the way - even if this has been posted before in this thread - it's worth posting again: Cheers, Paul
I haven't heard that one yet, but I will make a point to check it out this weekend. Thanks for the rec!
It has but it is. They should do an album with this set-up, it emphasises how great the songs are as written.
I take it you're all familiar with this magnificent site: SEVEN RAGGED MEN | The story of Madness, told in their own words
There's a Madness double bill on Sky Arts in the UK tonight, starting shortly. First is a documentary of the band's history, Madness Before & After followed by a documentary on Lee Thompson, One Man's Madness.
Deep cuts from front to back so far. I hope the whole gig gets a release, it's a gem. Edit: They just started My Girl. So not ALL deep cuts.
Reading the book House of Fun... is it true that there are no real drums on Mad Not Mad? Obviously, I knew they used drum machines but didn't realize it was all of that Lp.
I checked Wikipedia and it shows in "Personnel" that Daniel "Woody" Woodgate did play drums on the album, along with LinnDrum programming, and keyboard sequences.
There was a Suggs documentary a few years ago that was something to do with his dad but I could never find a showing of it. I’ll be watching this though, thanks!
