I have my own rules for answering this, which are that the songs all have to have been singles released in the US in 1967, only one song per band/performer, and a max of 16 (the most that could fit onto an LP - see Motown compilations). I don't know what to do about the order, so there is no particular order, and not necessarily my favorite song from each performer, but all these songs scream 1967 to me:

Twelve Thirty (Young Girls are Coming to the Canyon) – The Mamas and the Papas

Light My Fire – The Doors

    Reflections – The Supremes

Bend Me, Shape Me – The American Breed

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

Green Tambourine – The Lemon Pipers

Time Has Come Today – The Chambers Brothers

    White Rabbit – Jefferson Airplane

    Strawberry Fields – The Beatles

We Love You – The Rolling Stones

I Heard it Through the Grapevine – Gladys Knight and the Pips

When I Was Young – Eric Burdon and the Animals

    Little Games – The Yardbirds

Chain of Fools – Aretha Franklin

    Darlin’ – The Beach Boys

To Sir With Love - Lulu

My favorite version of this song, it smokes like hell to this very day.

I'm pretty sure this is lip synched, but it's still great fun to see Gladys smiling and all the rest.

When you say 1967 songs, I guess Strawberry Fields first comes to my mind. But is it really MORE an example of that year than this? (I don't mean in people's minds, I mean the sound of it overall.)

Like most I consider 67 a sort of down year for the Stones compared to the great singles and Aftermath they had before and their "comeback" in 68 with Jumping Jack Flash and Beggar's Banquet, no doubt affected by their drug arrests and trials. And this video directly refers to that. But it really says the year. I remember first hearing it and thinking this sounds different with the backing vocals. Is Marianne in there? And of course it was John and Paul. Nice work by Nicky Hopkins, too.
