    So we're on 1989
Pick your favourite songs of the year and make a compilation or a series of compilations based around whatever theme's that take your fancy ... they don't have to be singles, and they don't have to be songs that i post.

My list has some 1988 overlap (probably 1990 too) but these are straight from 3 mix tapes that I made in 1989 and 1990. This is all stuff I was listening to throughout 1989 and even 1990. Most of it got a lot of airplay on the local radio or MTV in '89 although some of the songs are album tracks that just hit me in the right spot at that time.

Love & Rockets – So Alive
    R.E.M. – Hairshirt
The Cure – Pictures Of You
    U2 – All I Want Is You
Skid Row – I Remember You
    White Lion – Little Fighter
    Prince – Batdance
    Eazy-E – No More ?’s
Peter Gabriel – In Your Eyes (yes, this is from 1986, but the Say Anything soundtrack gave it new life in 1989)
    George Harrison – Cheer Down
Soul II Soul – Keep On Movin’
Public Enemy – Fight The Power
The Cult – Edie (Ciao Baby)
    Janet Jackson – Escapade
Faster Pussycat – House Of Pain
    Aerosmith – Janie’s Got A Gun
    Rush – The Pass
    Rolling Stones – Mixed Emotions
Def Leppard – Love & Affection
Don Henley – The Heart Of The Matter
Guns N Roses – One In A Million
    Madonna – Oh Father
Traveling Wilburys – Handle With Care
Fine Young Cannibals – Good Thing
The Replacements – I’ll Be You
    Paula Abdul – Straight Up
Treat Her Right – I Think She Likes Me
    Rolling Stones – Slipping Away
De La Soul – Me Myself And I
    R.E.M. – Orange Crush
    U2 - Heartland
    Warrant – Down Boys
    Traveling Wilburys - Last Night
    Cinderella – Coming Home
Bobby Brown – Every Little Step
