I am looking to add an amp to my stereo system because my current receiver I have had since high school a Marantz 2250B is rated for only 8-ohm speakers according to the manual. I am considering getting KLH 5 or Wharfedale Linton's rated at 4-ohms. Will the Marantz amp handle or should I go toward the Yamaha or amp rated to tolerate 4-ohm speakers. I would prefer not to burn out my Marantz receiver since it sounds so good. Thanks

The 2250B will drive nominal 4 ohm speakers perfectly well.

Yeah, I agree that your 2250B should be able to handle 4ohm speakers, even though the specs specify power at only 8ohms.

The 1060 vs CA2010 are two pretty different integrated amps, one is 30W and the other 120W. The 1060 should sound similar in character to your 2250B - smooth, on the warmer side, while the 2010 more neutral and by comparison a little leaner.

Both are older as well, like your 2250B, so unless you buy them reliably restored, they may be somewhat more prone to failure than a more recent model.
