Gobsmacked. It's always felt as if The Fall would always be there..... With whatever craziness and brilliance Mark could conjure up... Wow... How lucky we have so much music to look back on. Gonna take a little while to absorb all this.

No. A true original in every sense of the word.

 

Amazing. Way too young, but crammed everything he could into his life. And the music lives on.

I never 'got' The Fall, but I know that for a lot of people they were their favourite band bar none. There won't be another one quite like him any time soon.

Damn, man, and I was finally checking out those guys a couple weeks ago.

 

Aw crap, this just ruined my day, even though I'd had my suspicions when there were so many cancellations last year this still comes as a sad shock. Condolences and all, he will be missed...

Oh man, this is terrible news. A true visionary.

 

This is horrible. He was an amazing talent & a truly unique individual working in a field that can never have enough of them. He brought us too many great songs to count with the Fall.

The Fall was one of my most beloved bands during the 80s. I read Smith was not going well, buth his death still surprised me...

Tomorrow will be a day of playing all Fall box sets and albums...
