I've heard a version of Marmalade's "I See the Rain" with rain sound effects at the beginning and end. Were these on the original single version? If so, is this version on CD??

Hi Don, you obviously must be referring to the Nuggets II version which has no effects. I have this song on other cds and they all have the sound effects at the intro and end. I think the Nuggets version just chops off the sound effects and has an early fade.

The version w. the effects is on these cds I have:

    I See The Rain - The CBS Years - Castle/Sequel NEMCD 463
Marmalade - The Definitive Collection - Castle CCS CD 825

The second is a two cd set priced as one cd. One cd is a Greatest Hits comp and the other is their first LP: "There's A Lot Of It About" as a bonus disc. Not sure if either of these are print.

The first cd has a companion disc titled "The Decca Years."

Every version that I have ever heard of "I See The Rain" always had the sound effects at the beginning and the end of the song. To me, this song is one of the best UK psych songs of all time. I believe that there are also differences between the mono and stereo versions of the song, but it's been so long since I have heard them both at once, that I forget what they are.

I asked because I picked up The British Are Coming, vol. 2, the Nuggets version, and the Reflections Of ... versions, all without sound effects, and this had me wondering! Thanks, Dave and Ed!
