are you stating that you lost your ability to enjoy some of the best music produced in the last 50 years , once you turned 8...?

Can anyone recommend an available starting point on CD? Should I just pick-up that complete albums box?

It would depend on how much new content was included.

The Nilsson box is how these things should be done.

Probably all of the above. I have a hunch (not documented though) that there may have been additional tapes found at Sony (Columbia) when they searching for the original film elements for the TV series.

Sure! I've already bought every album 3 or 4 times in various incarnations over the last 30 years from Rhino. Why not some more?

Not on Facebook any more but I remember a post mentioned by him that he was working on an updated revision to his book and was hoping to get it released by end of 2020.

Had also heard he stated that a new Deluxe box was coming end of 2019. But also remember his hands are tired when it comes to Rhino. Although Hughes seems to have control and is following in Friday's footsteps of releasing unnecessary material.

Sandoval should have full authority when it comes to The Monkees releases. IMHO.

Very true. Andrew should have full control of what should be released. I've met him a couple of times, and he is just an awesome guy. Without his dedication and enthusiasm for the Monkees (and other groups), we would likely never have had all the unreleased material and boxed sets that we have gotten. Not to mention that he sets up the tours for the guys.

LOL - good one! ... Being a foreign language nerd - I'd buy it for some oddities like this! I like hearing most any pop song in foreign languages.

I'm on the fence ... Hmmm .... if it contained enough unreleased music - I'd probably buy it.

Yes, I'm a sucker, I would buy it. One thing I don't get is the fascination with the backing tracks that contain no Monkee involvement.

Well, it only took 17 replies for The Beatles to get mentioned on a Monkees thread.

I think sadly the ship has sailed on any more Monkee Box Sets. Andrew recently stated it was up to Rhino and it seems like, as far as new Monkee products go - M&M Live aside - they have John Hughes in charge of the catalog and he's about as productive & creative as Friday Music. Junk.

Let Andrew take the reigns and finish out the catalog with dignity and grace.

... until something new is discovered. Then bring him back!

Maybe if we got a kickstarter going we could help Andrew purchase the complete catalog from Rhino and he could partner with 7A. All new releases could be kickstarter projects.

I don't quite get it either.

The only backing tracks I really have any interest in are:

    A) Tracks they played on together
    B) Tracks for songs they produced in their own sessions
    C) Tracks that are of songs they may have written/co-written but don't necessarily play on the backing track

I still would like to see a massive ‘every-darn-mix’ and all known and available recordings box set at some point.

No, for me the Rhino 4-disc Music Box collection is complete enough.

I'm almost with you, there. But, then..

We must ask ourselves: Do we want every single mix and available recording of "Ladies' Aid Society"?

Well, Andrew was fairly close to his estimation for when the updated book would be available-He probably was done writing it by the end of 2020, then getting a printer lined up and all, so by the time it's out for us who are buying it, it's only 6 months off of his estimated date, so not bad...

Too bad the new deluxe to be released at the end of 2019 never came to fruition-Do you think that maybe that's the big release he says is supposed to be released late this year?

I'm sure there's stuff. Not sure how much. But he's had these laid out and ready to go for sometime. Just waiting for the green light from Rhino.

I wonder if he's planning on a ML4 with stuff that was not released or has been located since the release of the other SDEs? No need to start over.
