Variety: ‘Matrix 4’ Officially a Go With Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lana Wachowski (EXCLUSIVE)
‘Matrix 4’ Officially a Go With Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lana Wachowski (EXCLUSIVE)

Lana Wachowski is set to write and direct a fourth film set in the world of “The Matrix,” with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will produce and globally distribute the film. Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich made the announcement on Tuesday.

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana,” said Emmerich. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”

In addition to Wachowski, the script was also written by Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. Wachowski is also producing with Grant Hill. Sources say the film is eyed to begin production at the top of 2020

So Carrie-Anne Moss's Trinity didn't really die in the third film? I would be interested in seeing the trailer when it comes out.

Why bother with another one? Then again, I don't have see it. No need in sounding like one of these whiners that gripe about too many Superhero movies, don't have to see those either!

Chris from Chicago Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes

The only way I could be more excited about Matrix 4 is if they called it Matrix 2

I'll go see it when it opens. The two writers are interesting. Unlike some, I enjoyed quite a bit of the two later Matrix films - the Keymaker, the Architect, the Merovingian, the fight on top of the truck. I wasn't as crazy about the endless supply of bullets defending Zion.

Just to annoy those who think I mention her too much, here's my wife Vickie with Lana at the Music Box Theater in Chicago.

Wonder why the other Wachowski isn't involved?

And if they recast Morpheus, that will be a big mistake. Larry Fishbourne needs to be asked back, if he is willing. Hell, Reeves and Moss will be 20 years older (Trinity back from the dead,) so why not a Morpheus who will be 20 years older?

Reeves will be a busy man the next few years too. Currently the next Bill & Ted is filming, then Matrix 4 starts production early 2020, followed by John Wick 4.

Loved the first one. The second was decent not so much the 3rd.

    I'm in..

Fishburn is also in the John Wick movies. Not sure why they wouldn't bring him back.

Also, Moss just turned 52 today, Reeves will be 55 in a couple weeks and Fishbourne just turned 58 last month. Not much difference in age. If they say Fishbourne is too old to play Morpheus, the same can be said about the other two. LOL

Cut 2 and 3 into a single decent movie, and make this the true finale. Problem solved.

I know, right? This will be interesting.

As a side note, I loved seeing Fishburne in the John Wick movies.
