Matthew Sweet's Zoo Entertainment Era Albums Reissued By Intervention

Yeah, well, I'd agree! 1000-2000 would surely sell! But, Mofi has established resources of advertising, distribution, and a fan base so insane that some of them are wondering if there's a Twisted Sister SACD in their future! Intervention Records has to figure things out without those advantages. Additional challenge: there's an existing fanbase for classic pop and rock that is accustomed to paying a premium for audiophile releases. That's just less true (at this point) of the fanbase for pop and rock of the 1985-2000 period. So, some challenges, even if, hypothetically, there ought to be enough interested customers in the world.

 

A lot of sacds should have came out 2002-2005 when the interest was there. The vinyl revival around 2010 didn’t help. Ironically a gear upgrade high end turntable would set you back more.

 

There's still hope... at least for Girlfriend.

It looks like the UPC for Girlfriend got reused for the Joe Jackson Body & Soul release. Import CDs just picked up the old description for their eBay listing.

That is exactly what happened!! This was my fault, it was an accident. And it's raising holy hell all over. Too late to take it back.

Let me be clear too, GF never even got tests discs. So no one has my mastered files.

 

I doubt it's a CD-R. Every listing on ebay if you select to use their description lists a CD as a CD-R. I'm not sure why that changed, but every CD barcode you put in if you are selling something shows up in their description that way.

It is an incorrect listing, but that doesn't change the fact that people looking on ebay will see "CD-R" listed in every ebay listing where someone allows the description that is in ebay to pull in. For some reason eBay's auto text for CD descriptions if you put in the barcode lists everything as being a CD-R.

 

Now there's a new listing for the SACD of Girlfriend on Intervention showing up with a UPC of 680270758049 and a release date of October 16th. Are you teasing us again, Shane, or is this the real deal?

Damn good question. I need to inventory jackets and talk to Matthew's crew. Easiest would be to send unused jackets to Matthew and then re-sell them. This will take a bit to figure out.
