It seems to me that it must be from the "Martha My Dear" session (4th October, '68 at Trident). The Tuba being one of six horn players listed for that session.

That puts George on guitar and I suspect Ringo is on drums too (he and the strings being out of shot).

Lewisohn says that guitar and bass were overdubbed by Paul on 5th October so perhaps George's guitar was wiped (or maybe he didn't even play on the recorded take). I wonder if maybe there is some George guitar on it though - the first time guitar appears it sounds like two parts perhaps (one buried beneath the overdub).

    So, maybe:

    4th Oct:
Paul, Ringo and George laid down the backing live with the strings and horns (1 take)
Paul, wiping the rough vocal, overdubbed new vocals and handclaps (doubled on two separate tracks - not just ADT)

    5th Oct
Paul overdubs bass and electric guitar

It would seem odd to me not to have Ringo on drums for the master take - sounds like him if you ask me.

There no record of a drum overdub, right?

Don't you wish they would have made a movie about making the White Album instead of Let It Be ?

Of course, that's presumably the string section beyond the horns behind the screens (I see a cello case there).

Presumably, Ringo would be below the control room window (through which this photo was taken, I assume).

Are there any other photos with Ringo set up below the control room window at Trident?

For the people who have the Beatles deluxe hard back book from the vinyl edition, can someone scan these photos with good quality? Thanks

Looks a bit tense; is this from the Across the Universe session?

Looks like post-Rishikesh to me...John doesn't have the giant sideburns he had in Feb '68, and George has a mustache (he was clean shaven in Feb '68). Also, I believe that's Francie Schwartz behind George, which would date this to spring/summer '68.

No worries...they'll all appear in the booklet that comes with the super deluxe White Album package; including a newly remixed stereo version and session outtakes galore.. Coming soon to a dream near you.
