On a different matter, they've got new owners, I am hoping for a espresso machine with a blue pressure gauge and this gives me hope.

Of course it's Sold Out. M is waiting to see if there are sufficient orders for a product of this decrepitude to actually start producing any of them. Win or lose the brand is already toast.

I am sure that thing will sell for a number of reasons I won't go in detail now. They won't need to do much to produce it, basically the cabinet would be the same one used by some of their current units, the glass plate only needs being stenciled with the brand, the back plate might need some work and that's it. I think is a bit too much but can you blame them?

FWIW, someone is selling one of the vintage neon McIntosh clocks on the 'Gon for considerably less. Looks nice if that's your thing.

People who're complaining about the price of one of these boxes need to stop think about all the research and development costs that goes into it.

Personally, I'd need to demo this unit in-person at a dealer before blindly purchasing one.

Also, what's the burn in time for these?

I'm getting the vibe here that the SH audio forum isn't exactly their intended market.

May be it has tube power supply? It got control interface BTW )).
People are paying $250 for empty little plastic plugs, this huge box with light is a bargain in comparison.
In badge engineering often slapping words similar to McIntosh often worth more.
Who can forget famous story about Lexicon DVD player, which ended up being $400 OPPO DVD player with a front panel of Lexicon, selling for $3,000. With all inflation counted this empty box is also a bargain...

This thread is an ideal repository for a hierarchy of audiophile product perfidy.
    1. Product that is competitively priced but not very good
    2. Product that is pretty good but overpriced
    3. Product that is top-of-the-line but nonsense priced
    4. Product that does nothing but costs just a bit
    5. Product that does nothing and costs a lot
Now let's see...where does McIntosh stand here (LOL).

McIntosh and Harley Davidson both have customers that will buy anything. And they both have great resale value.

I didn’t lose a cent on my McIntosh power amp when I sold it. As far as Harley Davidson- the salesman was a pretentious jerk. I left and went down the street and bought a Triumph.

Pre-amps and amps for sure, still excellent sounding gear.

But I wonder how many of the other gaudy gizmos that McIntosh issues bubble up from the mind and authorization of Chuck Randall, who has been at the helm since 2001.
