Also not in English, a soundtrack from the 70s. Japanese animation Cyborg 009, Ai no Hoshi/Star of Love.
If I was given a mandate that I could listen to music released in one year only (someone should start a thread if it doesn't already exist), it would be 1967. The Sandpipers were all about mello and "Misty Roses", released in '67 is a fave.
"The Bugaloos" originally issued in 1970, has been reissued on compact disc two times so far, but is currently out of print. I have the 2006 UK release on Cherry Red, a label that's often a crapshoot in terms of audio quality. Thaynkfully this time they got it right. Anyway, I love this mellow number from the album.
"Jean" was a big hit in 1969. Written by poet Rod McKuen and sung by Oliver (William Oliver Swofford), it fit nicely into the pop and adult oriented radio soundscapes of yore. It's very mellow and has such a lovely melody. I have this on the 2005 Taragon compact disc release of "Good Morning Starshine, The Best Of Oliver", which is out of print and inexplicably rare!
Aw c'mon, don't hold back! Love the Sandpipers. They followed the same path as The Lettermen and latter day Vogues. I was intending to post Misty Roses myself. There are quite a few versions out there but this one by The 5th Dimension is my go to. Lovely Billy Davis Jr. vocal and those angelic background vocals!
I'm sure the sentiment doesn't go down well with feminists but it was 1970 so what are ya gonna do? Make him your reason for living? Ouch!
I wish there was a button I could press so all of your shares would play back to back. This is a fave by The Tokens released as a single in "69. "She Let's Her Hakr Down (Early In The Morning).
Anyone mention King Crimson's 1969 "I Talk to The Wind"? I also consider the Airplane's 1968 "Triad" nice and mellow.
Another group that had success in the early 60s was The Newbeats. They went from liking Bread & Butter to just Groovin' Out On Life. I like that sentiment.
