I have 2 copies of an MFSL UD 1 CD: one mfd by Ultech and one mfd by Superior (I've checked the hub but they're otherwise identical discs visually). I have a/b'd them and I'm hearing a difference between the two, one sounds better than the other. Is this possible? How could this happen? Maybe I'm imagining things?

There could have been differences between the two facilities in the manufacturing of the Glass master for the CD. i.e. one had better jitter control than the other.

Sounds like the old MFSL UD1 vs. UD2 arguement. Could it simply be manufacturing quality that makes these different?

I know vinyl had problems with different production runs (a run of Billy Joel's "The Stranger" had a skip pressed into it) so could there be oddities in SACD pressings - as well as CD pressings?
