anything is possible. but did 8-tracks actually sound better than LPs? I cant remember...

I think the hiccups and breathes were what differentiated MJ from other more traditional black R&B artists at the times. MJ was primarily a pop artist and his records were targeted at mass appeal .. those vocal quirks were what made him stand out from others at the time.

I agree on this. Not too long ago I got that 25th anniversary edition on my ipod was listened to it a few times. The record does sound very dated to the times it was released. Its the excessive use of all those drum machines and drum programming is that does it I think.

I think I missed 8-tracks altogether, so I don't know how they sounded.:)

I was old enough to remember 8 tracks. My parents had a player in their car I think. I recall Demis Roussos 8-tracks being played all the time. (Good god they had bad taste in music!).

I'm old enough to remember them. I saw them in record shops. We just never had a player.

I think that 8 tracks were only for cars, I don't recall ever seeing one in someone's house.

Two things surprise me about the setlist: so many songs originally performed with his brothers, and the absence of "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough", his first mega hit as solo artist.

My grandma had one in her big console tv stereo (Zenith?). But I think you are correct about predominant use in cars back then.

Got the the album on cassette on christmas day 1987, äan for a period of two years, it was the only album I listened to. It became my introduction to all the wonderful music Michael Jackson created.

    My favourite tracks are:

The Way You Make Me Feel
    Liberian Girl
    Another Part of Me
    Leave me Alone

    Great review.

Davitt Sigerson produced Olivia's The Rumour album in 1988.

It's not as good as Bad.:)

I love the Sega Genesis versions of the songs from Bad (and the other songs) that are used in the Moonwalker video game.

I remember a soundalike version of "Bad" on a cheapie compilation of hits of the day.

I was nine years old when it came out, and I loved the fandom at the time. MTV was strong, and pop music was fighting for its right to take over my personal soundscape. Bad and its video was taking over mine, that's for sure. What a time to be alive. Oddly enough, because I heard the music from this album through friends, I didn't have the chance to own the album until very recently.
In '88, San Diego hosted an airshow called Air/Space America. During the airshow, they had giant video screens set up and I remember Kenny Loggins's Danger Zone, and the BAD video being played a lot while the show went on.

I won't read a 5-page thread to post my thoughts. As for not insulting others, that's rich considering the source. Randomly picking fights for no good reason with people is a great way to demonstrate you're good manners. I don't need some arrogant abrasive jerk telling me what to post. Welcome to my ignore list and good riddance to bad rubbish.

Had an 8-track player in my room, in case the ladies came over. Never had any Michael Jackson, for the same reason.
