Pre-ordered the vinyl and cd. Really liking what I’ve heard so far, and I love the cause.

After a couple more listens, I think I'm digging First Nation more than Gadigal Land because it sounds more like a true collaboration. Gadigal Land grew on me (especially the second half), but it sounded more like Midnight Oil by the numbers with some others tacked on. First Nation sounds more like it wouldn't exist without the collaborators.

Is this at all unusual? And why would it be a problem?

Certainly indie artists put out new releases on CD-Rs, and amazon manufactures back-catalog albums on CD-R, but I can't think of another major label release (Sony) from even the past few years that made its debut on CD-R. Maybe this is just a roundabout way for US-based sellers to have the album available on the same release date as Australia?

So excuse my ignorance, what format did these major releases make their debut on? And again, why is it a problem?

Actual CDs, not the CD-R crap that is unplayable after a couple of years.

CD-Rs are not CDs. They are a cheap and undesirable alternative and as noted above, some players won't read them after a couple of years.

Amazon US is an in-house CD-R. Cancelled my pre-order.

The 10 day wait and Sold By Amazon Digital Services were the clue's.
    Pretty ticked.

But that’s the thing... is this release available anywhere as a real CD? I hope someone from Australia will chime in. At this point I’m thinking this is going to be a CD-R only release worldwide, as Sony has done with some classical titles.

I picked this up in Sydney, Australia today...It is NOT a CD-R, at least not the Aussie pressing!
Packaging is, well...a little flimsy, though.

The packaging isn't the best but it's a real cd as far as I can see and the album is bloody good.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to be a CDR for the Australian market. Glad to hear the contents are good! I'll get it eventually, but I am not in a hurry.

Someone on the Powderworkers Facebook page just posted this photo and he swears the copy he received today from Bullmoose is NOT a cd-r, even though their listing says it's an on-demand title. I'm trying to get clarification or a photo of the actual play side of the disc...
