Hall of Fames are a joke. Just another example.

Yeah, baby!! Thanks for the tip of the hat! Now, on to Mike Love's FB page and read those deliciously appropriate comments that support the fact that Mike Love is really the most laughed at clown. Most everyone knows he certainly is.

  4. You must be an extremely talented Licensed Psychiatric Professional to be able to deduce that exposure to the toxic personality of someone you have never met contributed to the mental decline of someone else you have never met.

Comments all written by OSD! Hahaha!!!

Hey, please tell that story of when you had BB’s poster sent backstage to be signed and it came back with only Mike’s signature! Lol!

Not as talented as those musicologist who, to a degree of certainty, can deduce Mike Love's contribution the the Beach Boys catalogue.

It’s pretty easy if you know each guy’s distinct voice and who wrote the lyrics. Plus there are tons of interviews out there and books etc etc.

Yet, you failed to mention Murry's role in Brian's mental state..

Mike and Brian weren't the mother and father of the band. So, there is no need to assign responsibility for nurturing to any member. Hopefully, the band's manager will provide a nurturing environment. Unfortunately for The Beach Boys, the band's manager failed to do so, as he and Brian cheated Mike out of proper writing credit for his contributions to hit songs and deep cuts.

He deserves it purely for changing the horribly pretentious Hang On To Your Ego to the wonderful I Know There's An Answer.

I know...I was being facetious. It was in response to the person that claimed "Sufin' Safari" was solely a Mike composition, even though the songwriting credit and history says otherwise.

    I agree.

Any songs Mike Love wrote on his own?

I have a hunch that he weaseled songwriter credits like he weaseled the right to the band's name.

Plus, points off for freaking Kokomo.

I think I read somewhere that Capitol Records recording engineer Chuck Britz said the original members of The Beach Boys needed to build and altar to Brian Wilson because, without him, they'd have all ended up "working at gas stations in Hawthorne, California", or something to that effect.

I certainly would not have gone so far. A great appeal of The Beach Boys' classic records is the vocal blend. Still, for me the songwriting attraction in The Beach Boys is in the melodies and the harmonies, not the lyrics.

Big Sur, Sumahama, Everyone’s In Love With You, and allegedly, All I Wanna Do and Let The Wind Blow were mostly Mike’s creations. All good stuff.

I just hope that, as he goes up to the podium to receive his award, they play "Student Demonstration Time."

How come Mike haters come off as much bigger A-holes/egomaniacs than the man himself?

I haven't seen many interviews with Mike Love, but he came across well in the interviews promoting his book last year.

IIRC he wrote the lyrics to (the better version imo) of Good Vibrations in a car on the way to the studio. May not be genius but it is impressive.

He also co-wrote Chug a Lug, one of the more enduring anthems of the 60's

Here a mug, there a mug, everybody chug-a-lug
Here a mug, there a mug, everybody chug-a-lug
Gary likes a girl's tight black pants
Larry knows he doesn't stand a chance
Carl says hurry up and order it quick
Dave gets out to chase that chick
Dennis wonders what's under the hood
A big chrome tach and it sounds real good
I go down to the root beer stand
And drink up all that I can
Give me some root beer (chug-a-lug chug-a-lug chug-a-lug)
Give me some root beer (chug-a-lug chug-a-lug chug-a-lug)
Give me some root beer (chug-a-lug chug-a-lug chug-a-lug)
    Cold beer, root beer
Here a mug, there a mug, everybody chug-a-lug
Brian's still glued to the radio
Louie's lookin' out the rear window
Guy's got around to orderin' fries
But root beer's my best buy
Give me some root beer (chug-a-lug chug-a-lug chug-a-lug)
