It was included in the 2009 Ultimate Edition box set repackage.

It's a superb show. I never thought I'd like Tubular Bells until I saw this on BBC Four and then picked up the LP cheap in a charity shop. It's a good one. I haven't noticed Mick Taylor on it. I recorded it to DVD, so I'll watch again soon.

The BBC music specials from the late 60s and early 70s must have been watched by many and influential. So many artists had their biggest album just after their one was broadcast.

I just noticed that weird synth swell at 9:40 sounds exactly like the THX Theater Sound System clip that would run in movie theaters before THX movies.

Well, the posted youtube video seems to basically be taken from it, and it's quite easy enough to download the hi-res streams off of youtube with some free apps. :shh:

I should probably add, if you love the album/music (which I do), the expensive box set has a lot of great stuff included in it.

Great, great performance. I've seen this before and it never gets old; a great alternative to the album.

An amazing performance with an incredible line up of musicians. One of my favorite videos. I also think Mick Taylor being part of this is really cool.

I believe it's also on his "Elements" dvd. No idea if it's still in print though.

The dvd in the big box is supposed to have an additional track.

    Take no notice, it doesn't.

BTW, tubular bells has 355 versions on Discogs, any other album with more?

I read that Mick Jagger was in the audience, not sure if it's true.

Unless you can track down a rare Mick Taylor cardboard Digipack boot DVD.
It has the full performance in colour and in superb quality along with other various group & solo footage eg: Jack Bruce 75' & some unreleased Stones Hyde Park 69' material for openers.

An absolute dream band. My mind boggles that so many favourite musicians gathered together for an evening playing a teenager's music. The stuff of folklore. Taylor is not the draw for me though, he also not too much later played with Pierre on Gong's Espresso.

Branson pleaded with Oldfield to do this, eventually having to give Mike his Bentley in exchange for Mike's agreeing to the concert. I love Mike's anti charisma attack in this concert.

In 1973 my brother was trying to record the audio of this with a cassette player placed in front of the TV speaker. It was going well until our mother walked into the room. Playing back the tape you could hear "What's this rubbish?" followed by a chorus of "Ssshhhhh!" and the door slamming.

there's a good possibility I'll be headed down the Steve Hillage rabbitt hole today...I have a bunch of his promo vinyl that I haven't listened to in years.

I love the cinematography and effects, too. They're relatively understated and complement the music perfectly.

When I started to collect Mike Oldfield stuff in the 1980s I had to pay an awful lot of money for a very bad looking VHS copy of this from somebody in the UK who dealed with that kind of stuff. Now it's on YouTube in HD for free. Amazing...
