    Yet to be honest I found the new Japanese cds for the Miles and Monk titles to sound better. I also have the Coltrane title and that sounds very good, but I have not compared it to whatever has also been released in the 75th anniversary series from Japan (I think perhaps only the Griffin title has).

    Gentlemen,

    This LP was compiled from 78 RPM sources. High Fidelity it is not quite. Therefore. the 78 RPM originals would be the purest sounding, or the early H series 10" Capitol LP pressing if you can't play 78 RPM discs. Some of these may well be sourced from lacquers, some possibly from tape. This era was the transition from recording master sources on lacquer to the beginning of tape machines in studios.
