I'm just saying it might explain why, if we are looking for a reason outside of the whole "demise of physical media". The two could also not be related, just seems like a coincidence.
Miles Davis news update by Peter Losin 10/30/2019: Miles Davis Bootleg Series (October 2019) Contrary to what I posted here several weeks ago, the Sony/Columbia Legacy Miles Davis Bootleg Series is still alive, although the production schedule has been slowed down. (...) A seventh volume is in the works. Its release date has not been determined Miles Ahead: What's new?
and here I went and snapping up all the remaining unreleased radio broadcasts! Time for the Miles team to find all those source tapes and make 'em official...
It's not like the schedule was on the fast track as it was (15 months between Vol. 5 and Vol. 6), now 18 months and counting since the last set), but I'll take it. Glad to hear the news!
These remain crown jewels in my collection - I continue to go back to most of them again and again. Happy to hear they will continue.
I have quite a few of the metal spine boxes so I'll spin those until the next release . Like much great music, it never gets old.
Nice to know this series is (supposedly) not dead! Sorry if the alarm this post generated made you believe there were news about the next volume.
I'm not pumped about European grey market releases, but this just arrived on HDTracks. Does anyone else already have this performance (on any format)? Comments?
I have it on CD and it's a superb release sound- and performance-quality wise. It easily bests the four days earlier Stockholm gig from the Official Bootleg #2, because Corea's electric piano works here. A must-hear/have addendum to the second instalment in the official series IMO.
A good performance from the end of the Fall '69 European tour. Sound is a little louder than the previously circulating download. They cut out a Dave Holland solo, and a bit of Miles on the interlude between "Directions" and "Bitches Brew." The track indexing is off, and the track list neglects to mention two themes played: "I Fall in Love Too Easily" and "It's About That Time." The cover is pretty cool.
I did, and sorry I forgot to post about it. Basically, it can be done, I've done some nice EQ-ing of both to make it mix, but the amount of time/speed manipulation needed to make them match (from the sources I have anyway) is frustrating. However... only today a parcel came and I'll be building myself a new PC over the weekend. So it may happen yet.
FYI, The Heat Warps is doing a really killer deep dive into '69 "lost quintet" performances. It's been really fun to follow along with. Noting it here since there has been overlap with the Bootleg Series so far. the Heat Warps
Is this release of the Lost Quintet in Rotterdam a European Grey area release a CDR? Issued by Sleepy Night Records.
and still no news for a new Bootleg series? I am really hoping to have something representing the cosmic 1975 shows.
