Mixing And Mastering Question

    Will somebody expain what the difference is between Mixing and Mastering an album?

    Mixing = Blending the seperate instruments/vocals on the multi-track tape to acheive the desired balance

    Mastering = Preparing the final mix for public consumption...includes equalizing and sometimes compressing and editing

    Remixing = making a brand new mix

    Remastering = making a new master for public consumption, different than the one previously used


    The tems "remixed and remastered" are kind of stupid when used together...because when you make a new mix, you *automatically* have to make a new master.

    Correct.... the same stupid infos on the first both Ozzy remasters. They were remixed and remastered. :laugh:
