Hayao Miyazaki, now 80 years old, discussed in a recent New York Times interview how he's come out of retirement to make one more movie. His reason: “Because I wanted to.”

Miyazaki had announced his retirement from full-feature films after 2013's The Wind Rises. Although that was not the first time he announced a retirement. He first "retired" in the late 1990s, before coming out of retirement to do Spirited Away.

This new movie is not quite new news; he had been working on it going back to 2017, with some reports that it was intended to be released around the time of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. But I thought the Miyazaki fans on this forum would be interested in the interview and news of the movie.
