Sorry to be so negative but there is absolutely no chance of this happening. MFSL tend to do mainly US artists and Bowie just had a major reissue campaign so very little chance of MFSL getting a licence. If we are trying to predict future One Step titles I would suggest popular 50s / 60s Jazz - it wouldn't surprise me if they did "Time Out" for example or popular / semi-popular 60-80s Rock. Steely Dan would have been perfect but I think these are tied up in litigation, Also possible are titles they have already issued on 33rpm - so maybe Carole King Tapestry, Miles Sketches of Spain that sort of thing. I am not advocating releasing these titles, I would also like to see something out of leftfield now and again....
US artists?? Fragile? Dark Side Of The Moon? Layla? I'd think MFSL would be happy to reissue any good sounding album which they think would sell.
Has anyone compared the One-Step of Monk's Dream to the two eye original?? It would be great to hear a review or any details if anyone can or has done this.
Wow, nice! I was on the fence about this one since I already had the Impex, but couldn't resist. My One-Step has shipped from Music Direct, so I look forward to making the A/B myself.
Well I was referring to the "new" MFSL. Fragile ain't out yet - but I have 180 releases since they started again of which around 20 are by UK artists so just over 10% (and most of those are Elvis Costello) so yes I stand by mainly,
Looking forward to your A/B comparison, these night and day comparisons to the Impex are truly remarkable comments by some of the members here. It's hard to believe actually. Kevin Gray working from the Master Tapes have always been impressive on the LP's that I have gotten.
Aside from Elvis Costello, there's also Tears For Fears, The Pretenders (part English), Men At Work, Alan Parsons, Dire Straits. Not all US bands. Sure, it's not a majority, but which UK artists did you want them to focus on at this point? The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and David Bowie have had their own reissues lately. And I'm guessing that licensing would be exorbitant.
I dont want them to focus on UK artists particularly - I was just pointing out that they do mainly US artists.
Really? Why? I'd say that getting the actual masters from "abroad" may be an issue as the holder of any master's ain't likely to ship them off, even priority mail Then again, maybe use a copy tape and say nothing!
My observation as well. One bar into Monk's Dream I realized this release is something special. The drums come in with such authority and everything else follows suit. It's that well done. Do not procrastinate!
I would LOVE some Stevie Wonder One-Steps, Talking Book, Music of my Mind or Innvervisions would be AMAZING
From what I’ve read on this forum, Stevie Wonder refuses to relinquish the master tapes of his albums.
I don’t know for sure. They did Blood on The Tracks so why not some Bowie stuff! Blood on the tracks is not exactly a sonic masterpiece.
