Only 45. I used to be able to rattle off the ones not shown during the (initial) marathon, but time has clouded my memory. I know they went in airdate order and skipped the first one originally aired, "Royal Flush."
The used prices for Blu-Ray ranges from around $900 used to over $2,500 new, still sealed. I missed out when they were first released. It would be nice if they would do a second run as they did with the Eagle Rock reissues for standard DVD. The prices show the demand is there.
Thanks for the tip: I know it's not guaranteed that the one by me will have a lot of their DVDs marked down, but it's worth looking into... If nothing else, I may be able to snap up the 1/2 season sets of "Bonanza" they have in stock PS: Did it look like they were marking down their vinyl as well? I ask that because, at least at the B&N by me, the DVDs, CDs, and vinyl are all in one section (I'm assuming it's that way at their other locations too...)
I don't disagree with you that the demand for the show is still there, however, are they actually *getting* $900.00 (used) to $2,500 (new/sealed) for the Blu-Ray set? One can take any number, throw it against the wall and see if it sticks, but actually receiving those crazy *** prices is something else altogether...
that should give Rhino an incentive to get the rest of the stock out there to the fan at a reasonable price...a bare bone release would work...come on Rhino! also...have you checked ebay for the SOLD prices on the box?
The only reason I really wanted the Blu-Ray box was for the "bonus disc" material and HEAD with the commentaries by the guys. I'm fine with the episodes as they are only my Rhino mini record player DVD sets: Yeah, I'm sure they're great looking on Blu-ray, but like I said, I'm fine with the way they looked on the older DVD releases. As far as checking on eBay, no I haven't checked the sold prices on the Blu-Ray box-I haven't bought anything on eBay for years, so I really don't go on there anymore...
For anyone who isn't aware, Head is available separately on blu ray with the commentary from The Monkees. Head
When did that happen? I remember it being released by Criterion only as part of a box set with other Raybert/BBS movies (because of licensing issues).
IIRC, I was able to get some of the 2007 two disc deluxe versions of the first four albums from B & N years after they were out of print. One I found in store and the other I ordered, both for regular price when third party Amazon/Ebay prices were much higher.
It’s not available separately, it’s still part of the America Lost and Found: The BBS Story box set. Link: America Lost and Found: The BBS Story
I agree with the DVD record player sets. I’m not the biggest fan of the shows; too slapstick & inane writing. The DVD sets suit me just fine.
And that’s okay. I don’t think I’ve ever watched all of episodes anyway. I like the Monkees for their music, not for their acting abilities.
I did watch the show in real time back then but I can't remember most of it...me too...never watched all of the DVDs...
I scour the Internet daily for a deal on the DVD sets and blu ray.. The other day, I am on Facebook Marketplace and someone selling the two seasons on DVD for $20.00 each. I am so excited.. I contact the seller.. Someone just beat me to them..
This has been posted earlier, but here it is again for those who hesitated about getting the Blu-ray.
