I'll raise you 'Electric Ladyland', 'More Blood, More Tracks', 'Village Green', Steve Hackett and around 6/7 more. Mind you I sold unwanted LPs to finance that lot.

Looks pretty good...nice packaging, content, etc.
    But
Most of the music content was already in the 2cd set of the album that came out 2006.
    But
The new stereo mix is of interest.
Video would be handy to have.

    Yes
    Odd that
Pinder version is not part of the package.

No mention of the source and mastering details for the vinyl.

The inclusion of a 5.1 mix is huge news for me and makes this a must.

What a season for surround - 'The White Album,' 'Electric Ladyland,' 'Imagine - deluxe,' Jethro Tull 'This Was,' and now this. Of course, there will also non-5.1 titles like The Kinks 'Village Green...' deluxe, Dylan's 'More Blood...' and others. Wish I could take a month off to absorb it all.

I love it when it's known (or thought) that multi-track master tapes are missing... and then (like Yes' Close to the Edge) they reappear out of nowhere.

Tapes become misfiled or sent to the wrong facility where they sit undetected on a shelf until someone discovers them. It also happened with XTC's 'Skylarking.'

The multi-tracks for 'In Search of The Lost Chord' were not available when the core 7 Moodies albums were remixed for quad in the '70s.

When I interviewed John Lodge last fall, it was news to him that they were allegedly missing. It's possible that they were discovered long ago and the powers that be decided to wait for an opportunity like this to do something with them.

I most recently spoke with John two weeks ago and he mentioned this upcoming 50th edition but did not mention the inclusion of a 5.1 mix. I'm a happy boy. :)

Not yet although SACD's (stereo and mono mixes) of those titles are ready to roll. I believe 'Axis' began shipping yesterday or will soon.

In a season of so many box sets, this is an automatic purchase.

I think the original mix is great, and while I don't see a need for a remix, I'm curious to hear what they'll do with it. Seems to include everything from the 2006 deluxe SACD edition, but adds on some excellent content. And in a very attractive package. [IMG]

Isn’t this the first time a 5.1 mix has been available? I thought they’d lost the tapes for Chord?

I think I will be picking this up. I've been on a Moody Blues kick as of late and this is one of the albums I enjoy a lot. Ride My See-Saw is oh so catchy and Legend of a Mind is just wonderful!

If they go ahead and do this for the other core 7 albums, I'll pick them all up. I also wonder if Steven Wilson remixed the album too. Could that be the reason why Justin Hayward attended this year's Progressive Music Awards ceremony?! ;)

I want to get this mainly for to get a hard and official copy of their Colour Me Pop show. (I know it was previously on a career-spanning box set but this looks slightly more affordable). It's good what with the Small Faces Ogdens 50th reissue and the Move hits CD that the surviving shows are being released officially paired up with the appropriate audio material.

Shame that the 50th Anniversary Edition of DOFP wasn't in similar packaging though...

I have all those moody blues sacd's ... and the glaring ommission was the 5.1 mix for lost chord..... now we have a 5.1? Is it a simulation, or did they find the multitracks?
It would be cool to get this and complete the early 5.1 albums .... perhaps long distance voyager could get fone also ? :)

They must have found them, because the new set also has stereo remixes.

Well that is very cool ... one of my fave moody blues albums and the missing 5.1 will be a very welcome addition to the family

    Stand corrected.
The Pinder version is on this set as it looks like it’s the mono B side.
BTW, there’s another thread on this release.
    Should be combined.

    Yes. Missed opportunity.
But it seems that not a lot was left in the can at that period.
