Sweet Children became Green Day. The Cure had a few earlier names (Obelisk, Malice, and Easy Cure) but I guess those first two could be considered different bands. QT Jones & the Sex Pistols became the Sex Pistols. The Whelps became the Lemonheads. Loud Fast Rules became Soul Asylum. Captain America became Eugenius. Chunk became Superchunk. Death Cult became the Cult (I guess Southern Death Cult was a separate band). Panic became Black Flag. The Primitives became Uncle Tupelo. Feedback became U2.
The Ventures started as the Versatones. The Shadows of Knight started as the Shadows until informed of the English band with that name. They added of Knight because it sounded English and they all went to the same high school who’s sports team had the name the Knights . The Music Machine started as the Ragamuffins. Spirit started as Spirits Rebellious until they shortened the name . Love started as the Grassroots . The Quaker Oats became Thee Sixpence then the Strawberry Alarm Clock. Iron Butterfly started as the Palace Pages.
