Friends, this has become an incredibly exciting day!
Monumental in the scope of Beatles collecting for me. Today, I have come upon a rare photograph of The Beatles being presented an award plaque.. Not any award, but the one that I am looking at across the room. This is fantastic with regards to additional provenance, and historical significance. I have had this photo in the archives long before I ever got the award, and it has never ever registered before today. Finally, we know... One award to the group, Ringo Starr got it.. and kept it at one of his homes for 51 years. Unquestionably the exact same award plaque. The award presented to The Beatles from a local college fraternity was acquired from the "Property From The Collection Of Ringo Starr & Barbara Bach'' auction at Julien's Auctions in 2015 .. The Julien's Ringo Starr catalog did not even have this photograph listed with the lot. THIS makes me exceedingly happy! Very RARE!

When I ordered the new remastered vinyl of Budgie albums from their official website, both albums were autographed by the band members.

The first two, you should recognize. Got to see Levon in his home state of Arkansas. The third one is Dennis Winters of "The Winters Brothers Band". 4th and 5th are Randle Chowning of "The Ozark Mountain Daredevils".

 

It has been a fantastic day.. Wish there were more days like this. It was so exciting when I saw the photograph, then that moment when it registers in your mind.. BANG! it completely blew me away. Amazing additional photographic provenance revealed after almost five years.. a blessing.

Now... To further, and completely blow your mind.
The Beatles receiving their award photograph- was taken at "The Ed Sullivan Show'' in Miami.
Fifty five years ago tonight, probably prior to the show. This is what my research has determined.
Incredible ?! .. Strange, but true. Indeed.

I offer this photographic evidence from Feb. 16, 1964.
I found the missing link, and it revealed itself today. High Five!!

 

Bob Dylan ~ JWH Mono Singles
A few days ago Peter was mentioning Mono singles from the John Wesley Harding era.
I took a quick look and found a few original International Mono's, however I did not see the E.P.
These are Mono releases from Germany, Holland.

Thanks @Blue Note.. I know, pretty unreal finding the photo, and then placing it to the second Ed Sullivan - Miami show.. on the fifty-fifth year anniversary, to the day. I can remember watching the broadcast that night, everyone all revved up from the week before.

Billy Preston ~ Boy Wonder
U.S. The late great Billy Preston.. a mega talented child protege.
The fifth Beatle musically .. I saw Billy at the famous ''One World Festival of Music" in August, 1972
Pgh, PA. He was so wild, with the huge afro at the time. He was riding high off a number of top hits
and working with The Beatles. This was the instance that I've mentioned before on SHF threads..
Billy got up from the keyboards, and began a crazy frantic dance... He was out of control, and then he fell off the stage. He got up.. and went right on. It was one of my first large music festivals I ever went to.

I saw him in 1974 with the George Harrison tour in D.C.

The last time I saw Billy was at a club in Ft Laud, FL. in 1995 0r '96.
He was great, playing a medley of Beatles, Solo, and other hits. That was the night I spent maybe 15 minutes with him one on one.. He was one of the very nicest artists I ever met, really friendly and giving.

Bob Dylan ~ Hibbing Street Sign
U.S. Hibbing, MN. has (finally) placed a street sign in honor of Dylan.
"Bob Dylan Drive" went up on Wednesday, Feb. 13th on Seventh Ave. E. in front of his childhood home.
It's about time...
