First, examining lacquer cutting cards during some visits to Sony Music archives. Secondly, the "wrong" "Positively" pressings had a fast moving 2 pitch lead-out of the type as indicative of a Scully 601 (which, as far as machine number, was designated #3 on such lacquer cards). The "proper" "Positively's" had "gearbox" pitch settings (in this case, 164 lpi - believe me, I measured).

If you're asking about the labels, I have one or two Santa Maria-pressed 45's in styrene, and the logohead on top is definitely in a lower position in relation to the Pitman and Terre Haute pressings of the same records.

Another Bob Dylan Bootleg Series promo CD, this one snappily titled "The Bootleg Series Vol. 12: Bob Dylan 1965-1966 The Cutting Edge Sampler." :)

There is nothing unique in the audio, but the CD tray insert has a tantalising image of the spines of tape boxes which doesn't appear in any of the other CD editions. I don't (yet) have the vinyl release; perhaps it features on that one. It's possible, now I come to think of it, that the insert photo of Bob in the studio, though familiar, may be a frame that has not been seen - one would have to check the position of his left hand against other published photos of that session, I guess.

I posted more information about the image of the tape box spines earlier - on the Cutting Edge thread:-

Bob Dylan - Bootleg Series Vol. XII "The Cutting Edge"*

I like this odd photo.. the way the three are looking at George.
I had an old ''Rolling Stone'' from 1969 that used a similar photo,
but I remember it being in color. IIRC.. I think the article was called
"Hot As Sun" .. Anybody else happen to have seen that issue ?

marmil It's such a long story...

It wasn't in color in Rolling Stone - they didn't run color pix til the '70's.

That, I do not know about.. I'd think they had color by at least '72.
What I'm asking is if anyone specifically remembers seeing the article in the "Rolling Stone"(newspaper format) issue fifty years ago ? That is where I first saw the Beatles mirror photograph. Could easily be wrong about color, which I said.
    But it was there..

This past weekend was exciting.. Saturday I added a cornerstone piece to the Bob Dylan collection. Seldom ever seen.

Bob Dylan Promotional Stand-Up Counter Display (Columbia Records, 1965). Very Rare. Printed cardboard display "Nobody Sings Dylan Like Bob Dylan", showing a full-length image of Dylan with electric guitar and harmonica, and his six album releases to date including his most recent: "Highway 61 Revisited", released in August, 1965.
Measures approx 11" x 14" .. Easel backed on verso. Good condition, so rare. I will have some light professional restoration work done on the neck, and wrist area. It'll look great.

This original promo advertising piece is very significant as it dates to 1965, showing Dylan playing a Fender Stratocaster, the year that Dylan transitioned from acoustic folk to electric folk and rock 'n' roll. AMAZING! .. I've never seen one before in my life.

King Crimson ~ Udine, Italy 1974
Well, what do you know!? .. 45 years ago today, on March 19, 1974 a new unknown, unreleased Crimson song called "Guts On My Side" was performed live. The song was written during the same time as the "Starless" sessions. It was found via an audience bootleg tape forwarded to DGM. No one in the 1974 group had any memory of the song, played only one time at this Udine, Italy show. However, lyricist Richard Palmer James did. It's available as a new download today at www.dgmlive.com .. I purchased it natch. While, not a soundboard.. a very compelling performance with a true rarity! One of my all-time favorite KC tours, which I saw two nights in a row in Pgh, PA and Akron, OH.

Bob Dylan ~ "Blonde On Blonde" .. RIAA 'White Matte' Gold Record Award
U.S. Columbia Records .. RARE! Original 1966 classic white matte LP award.
There were only between 20 - 25 made, all awards read: "Presented To Bob Dylan".
This stunning example.. worth it's weight in gold.

    * Note: this award went for $11,250. on Saturday.
To give you an idea... I remember one offered for around $3000. no more than five
or six years ago. It was in similar excellent condition. The drill holes in the authentic,
original New York Frame Co. frame do not take away from the item. (These rarities
sometimes come from the walls within the record companies themselves).
