THE BEATLES ~ "Please Please Me" .. RARE! Early Promotional LP
U.K. Parlophone Records .. Absolutely incredible item! Absolute rock solid provenance,
with a story that blows you away. Original factory sample promo copy, MONO, with the
earliest stampers, and was owned by Tony Barrow. Tony of course wrote the back cover LP
liner notes. That's just half of it.. The back cover is hand annotated by John Lennon.
John has written '' (married) '' to the right of his name. In addition, John has hand printed
a notation re: the song "P.S. I Love You" .. He writes: "P.S. I Love You sung by Paul with John
and George in support behind him." - Photo archives.

Note : I was just about to be 'timed out', as it took time to save, and transfer the photos in
proper order, and write a quick script. It took 28 minutes so I just made it in time. I did not
get the chance to completely finish. This mega rarity came from Paul Wane of Tracks U.K. one
of the most respected U.K. dealers in rare Beatles. The LP, which came directly from the Tony Barrow estate and apparently only recently changed hands, as the LOA from Tracks is dated
    mid September, 2020.

The Beatles rare original debut U.K. album is available for sale currently from my friend Jeff Gold at Recordmecca. Jeff is another major collector/dealer, who I have mentioned previously
in this thread. My most cherished Bob Dylan pieces came from him, he is my go to source for rare Bob Dylan items.

    :hurl:Grammy Outrage... :realmad: :( :shake:
Bob Dylan and his incredible ***** recent 2020 album ''Rough And Rowdy Ways''
was completely overlooked, and snubbed. That really is not surprising, however this
coupled with the journalistic joke that is msnbc/nbc it has been a hell of a week for
Dylan, and many of his fans. The music scene has been a joke for so long now, but you
would think that R & R would have been given it's due..

     :disgust:

okay, got it out of my system.

Absolutely. Despite what happened to him, Pete Best handled himself then, and now, with complete class and dignity. I had the pleasure to meet him a couple of times, once in Liverpool where I met him, his wife, kids, and mother Mona. And again here in the US. An absolute gentleman. Happy Birthday to Pete Best, the man with the atom beat. Here's one of my signed photos from Pete.

Way, way back on this thread, long before Covid was a word used 100 times a day, @Andy Smith posted a programme from a '99 Mott The Hoople Convention with more autographs on it than a programme with loads of autographs on it... including that of John Fiddler.

Back in the early '70s I was a Londoner. So often was I to be seen in The Marquee Club at 90 Wardour Street, they were considering renaming it Percy's Dive. *****

Medicine Head were regulars on that small, low stage; I probably saw every performance there over a three year period. The duo, John Fiddler and Peter Hope-Evans, had been seen by John Peel playing a club in Birmingham in 1969. The DJ played a cassette of their live music to John Lennon and, it is said, Lennon advised Peel to sign the group up to Peel's Dandelion label. Which he did.

The first LP, recorded in two hours and released in 1970, bombed. So did the second LP released in 1971. The third LP, released in 1972, was called "Dark Side of the Moon" and we all know what happened to that one. Yes, it bombed, and when it bombed the title was half-inched in 1973 by a bunch of prognobs who had originally called their live show "Eclipse".... leaving John, John and Peter day-dreaming 'bout the way things sometimes are.

In 1971 they had a top thirty single here: "(And The) Pictures In The Sky" . It wasn't put on an album. We'd never seen so much hair on two people before... and the miming here is atrocious!

Honestly, they were a terrific pub & club band.

Anyway, the 50th Anniversary of their first album, "New Bottles, Old Medicine" , recorded in two hours, is being celebrated with this expanded 2CD set. The packaging is very well done. Nicely done original artwork all through the 6-panel card sleeve, CDs in wallets, and a booklet with images of the era.

If all that wasn't enough, if you were quick out of the blocks you got this limited edition replica vintage promo MH postcard, recently signed by John Fiddler and Peter Hope-Evans for exactly no extra cash. (Actually, I just checked and it's still available at Cherry Red. It's a steal for the music, a full-blown heist for the limited edition package!)

I mean, I know I'm easily pleased, but this thing is my favourite release of the year. Oh, alright then, favourite re-release of the year. By a country mile and more.

***** This statement may be misleading. Well, frankly, it's a bare-faced lie. I'm ashamed of myself. :)
