Since decades many people are searching what band did record this song.
Many tries but there was absolutely no success til today.

No one had found only the slightest truth about the band, there is absolutely no information.
The searching on the band who recorded the song became really scientific in any way. Thousends or tenthousands people were involved.

So here is the whole story.
    Wiki makes good work

The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet - Wikipedia

So if you REALLY know you will be famous.
PS: There are much fake bands that have never existed, which you can find of the alleged authorship of the song.
    Nothing's true

PPS The most bizarre explanation was that this song comes from an alternate reality.
There is a legend around that this song comes from another multiverse.

But the reality is : Until today there is not the very slightest hint who recorded this song. Really ALL traces ran into emptiness. All.

Simple explanation, the whole thing is a hoax, just like Kosmischer Laufer, some modern day musician made the track and spliced into some playlist from 30 years ago. There’s about a zero chance that an unknown band not signed to a label would get played on a radio station alongside main stream popular music - If there is no record as to who the artist is or where it came from, it’s more plausible that somebody just fabricated the whole thing. The song is by the numbers 80s cheese -

I think that's not the fact because the track was found first on a very old cassette.
And after years and years of searching just in a scientific way there would have been found something.
I don't believe that this is a hoax.

PS WHEn I heard this song first, I found it terrible. Hearing it several times I like the tune now a little bit.

I hope that here in the forum their are some users who were searching for this band nobody knows anything about, because there are many hundreds of persons are here in Steve's forum.

Cassettes are a re-recordable format and it is quite easy using plug-ins to make something sound old

Nice tune spoiled by terrible vocals. Who cares who recorded it.

Very compelling mystery! Great sounding song as well.

    Interesting lyrics

    Like the wind
    You came here runnning
    Take the consequence of living

    There's no space
    There's no tomorrow
    There's no sent communication

Check it in, check it out
Or the sun will never shine
Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind

    Like the wind
    You're gonna suffer
Let a smile be your companion

    There's no place
    And there's no sorrow
In the young and restless dreamer

Check it in, check it out
Or the sun will never shine
Paranoid anyway in the subways of your mind

Check it in, check it out
    It's the summer blues
Tear it in, tear it out
    It's the real excuse

1984 was towards the end of the time-paradox era of pop music, the post 1960s radio netherworld where bleedthrough from alternate realities and timeframes was occurring, because the reality nuke of the 1960s weakened the membranes of the bubbleverse.

A prime example is the song "Sky High" by Jigsaw. See book "The Music Of Time" by Preston B. Nichols

I've been listening and recording to cassettes all my life....
This doesn't sound like it's coming from a cassette at all to me.

It sounds like someone tried a little bit too hard to make it sound like a cassette, but failed.

I'm inclined to go the hoax way ;)

Some they travel far and wide
While others curl up and hide
    Scoffing from their safety zone
At intrepid souls who fare alone

Keep the mystery alive Kieran! Thanks for the intriguing post!

It's a fun thread idea - though a bit fantastic and over the top. There are mysteries in music.

Ah so. Stone cold sober actually. My bad. didn't listen to the other ones mistakenly assumed it was that other mystery song thread, there was one that didn't sound a fraction as well done. This one sounds commercial.

If this song is from another universe, it sure ain’t from A Bigger Bang...

Good grief, they have lousy taste over there in the 5th Dimension...

Sounds like it was recorded at Alternate Universal Studios...

The words 'most' and 'mysterious' are two warning signs. Put them together and you have a third even stronger warning sign. Then add this package to 'youtube' and you should have had enough red lights flashing and bells ringing to tell you to immediately step away from this. The only mystery is how people get sucked into this nonsense in the first place.

the thing for me is that the song itself , never mind the recording , isn't really even good enough to bother running down

Lol ! Alternate Universal Studios . Good one.

I remember rolling my eyes 30 years ago at computer geeks who were saying that we would all soon be in instant realtime communication worldwide from hand held devices.

It is not beyond possibility that folks who now laugh at the concept of the multiverse will soon be viewed the same way we view the mariners of yore who feared falling off the edge of the world.

    You just never know.
