Just wondering if you've heard "Come With Me" by Rare Earth?
Great track to listen to with that girlfriend in your new listening chair!

I just listened to it :righton:

Found some copper spiked footers I used on a Sub.
Due to their height just about 1 1/2 inch lift is dramatic up top.
The coaxial speaker is just too high up in the cabinet for the average room.
Sounds better standing up further away too.
    All unexpected.
and These Old plaster walls are unlike anything ive lived with before.

Not really "unexpected" but the Schitt Loki Mini was able to bring out lots of treble detail lacking in my system probably due to speaker sensitivity. Unless I'm cranking it, the Loki is on. Positions are 3, 1, 2, 3. Sometimes I adjust a bit forward and roll back depending on the recording and how loud I am playing it. Some recordings don't need it.

Biggest improvement was going from a single ended to a balanced system.

Similar experience here when I figured out how to correctly set up my Vandy 3A's after 20+yrs of owning them. I wish that they would have expressed it more simply in the manual.

Facts that's one of the best steps you can do for speaker placement.

Today, I bought some anti vibration pads made for and air compressor. A 4 pack was $15 at Home Depot. I stuck them under my Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum and Wow! I heard much more level detail, way better tone and timbre and voice was much more intelligible. I hate be cliche but I am hearing things I've never heard before.

Rest of the system is in my profile if you're curious.

Most surprising was stepping from a SoundSmith Aida mk2 ES to SoundSmith The Voice ES. I didn't expect such a large jump in resolution and air just from one step up in the product line, especially when both of my examples of these carts have ruby-cantilevered OCLC styluses.

Unexpected? I kinda expect better SQ when upgrade a piece so usually they confirm expectations. I guess one of the upgrades that set me on a path of improved SQ was some kimber pr8 I got s/h that replaced some Chord silverscreen that had been running 10+ years - wow, so there was the bass! But the midfi rega floor speakers weren't up to it and the sweetspot became a headclamp and kinda disjointed accross spectrum / drivers.

So, some Tannoy Eatons on isopucks came in and everything was intigrated, wide n deep soundstage that brought out all the qualities of the holographic dac.

If I hadn't got the kimber I'd have likely been happy in ignorance - but a £250 upgrade started a series of £5k upgrades (lock down savings) and I hopefully now have a set up that'll keep me happy for a long time

Going to a Tube preamp made a big improvement in my second system.
