I think 'Aguirre: Wrath Of God' is certainly unique and I would recommend it. 'Pink Flamingos', while unique, gets no recommendation from me. I hated it.
2007's "Charlie Bartlet" was a surprise movie I caught on a rerun channel several days ago that I had thought at first release was just another "Bueller's Day Off" rip off. Not in the least. Pretty cleverly written take on medicating high school youth culture in order for them to fit in. The lead title character acts as a Van Wilder type of jazz piano playing preppy nerd that hires a giant mentally challenged kid to violently roust the big bully who beat him up in the bathroom to go into business administering Ritalin to troubled students and acting as their personal psychiatrist. That's how oddball this movie is. Nothing cutesy. But is similarly paced as a "Bueller" type movie with Robert Downy Jr. as a convincing high school Principal who has to deal with Charlie in more ways than one.

Great flick... Crispin Glover and Dennis Hopper shine... only movie where I find Keanu Reeves believable to boot...
Under The Skin This movie had the same unsettling effect on me as Cormac McCarthy's book 'The Road' - it haunted me for many days afterwards and left me never quite the same again. A cinematographic experience beyond words.
I keep hearing about this one.. I'll check it out soon. I think its on YouTube (hopefully with no ads)
At the time of release it was a very unique film with all kinds of odd camera setups and a real long intro. I've even seen a couple of scenes from RA recreated in the Fargo TV series. Still one of the funniest films I've ever seen in the theater...highly recommended. ;o)
Good call. Oddball film, and a lot of fun. And it's a completely different tone and sensibility compared to almost anything else in the Coen brothers filmography.
We didn't see that level of screwball comedy from the Coen Brothers again, until the title chapter of THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS . . . To think they followed up RAISING ARIZONA with MILLER'S CROSSING, a very formal gangster pastiche.
Begotten. A fever dream of a movie eschewing logic and clear narrative, and largely silent. It's one of those movies that hangs heavy no matter the circumstances it's shown. Very dominating.
2001: A Space Odyssey: Despite being the granddaddy of the modern sci-fi movie, nobody seems to do a xerox copy of the style.
I doubt film makers are gonna ever copy 2001's formula of one-third of the film with dialog and tw0-thirds set to classical music.
It's funny in ways that most movies aren't. I've heard people say Cage is funny in this cause he's just playing himself. In any case, he's a total moroon here, but the movie is more fun than Dumb and Dumber.
