    Hey folks -

Saw this and thought I'd post. This is from the Detroit News web site:

Uriel Jones , whose hard-rocking drum sound was unmistakable on Motown hits such as Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and the Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," suffered a heart attack and is recuperating in Dearborn's Oakwood Hospital. Jones started on the road with Marvin Gaye and became a Funk Brother , playing on studio sessions in 1964.

Fans can send cards to Jones at Oakwood Hospital, attn: Uriel Jones, CCU #4, P.O. Box 2500, Dearborn, MI 48123-2500.

I know the Funk Brothers are held in high esteem on the forum.

I hope Uriel's doing ok and that his recovery goes well. IMHO he provided some of the funniest and most poignant moments in "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown". I love the story he and Jack Ashford told about that car trip they took while on tour, and how James Jamerson kept getting on everyone's nerves. The other one was when he got the news that his fellow drummer Benny Benjamin had died. You could see that after 30+ years that he had not gotten over the loss of his friend.
