Currently spinning a VPI classic signature with the older unipivot 3D tone arm.
Considering a move to Linn LP12 (Akurate build)
A relative had an older LP12 when I was younger and I remember thinking it so cool.
From what I understand the Linn is smoother and more “musical” than other tables.

That said - the VPI is a very nice table (although it’s a beast and looks a bit too big- I like the look of a rosewood ,smaller Linn) so yeah- it’s mostly due to look. But,
I’m curious if they will be much of change in actual sound and performance.

You could say that the Linn is more musical, but it would also be dependent on which sonic signature you preferred. It would probably be a good move in your case.

From a former fully loaded LP12 owner.

LP12 is still a viable candidate for best turntable ever made. Consider getting a Naim Aro arm for it; that will increase the magic by a noticeable degree.

Pick up a slightly used LP12/Ekos 2/Lingo 2 for 1/2 the cost (or less) of a new Akurate. Waaaaaaaay better arm that an Akito II. Install a new Karousel bearing and your favorite LOMC.
