I'd like to see "The Conversation" remade in this day of hi-tech electronic surveillance.

There's no way you can touch the original of course, such a great film.

Actually...cue groan sounds from everyone....Jaws! With cgi it would be interesting in the right hands. I agree the mechanical shark is part of the allure in the original, but I would still love to see a remake.

Remake all the MI movies with Adam Sandler instead of the Cruiser.

That's a good one. Westworld strikes me as an ingenious concept (witness its endless recycling through Crichton's Jurassic Park and its cavalcade of sequels) that was thoroughly undercut by its penny-pinching, anemic production values. MGM during this era was notorious for shafting its filmmakers.

Said this in a couple other threads.

My first choice would be The Good, The Bad And The Ugly starring Johnny Depp, Sean Penn and Steve Buscemi.

Of course original is a classic all-time favorite, but I would like to see them tackle it with a good director too.

I saw WESTWORLD in the theater at age 12, and I loved it. It had a profound pre-Terminator effect on me and remains one of my all-time movies, and I hope they never, ever, never, ever make a new one. It turned out to be a very good sci-fi film, regardless of its tight budget. These days many remakes boast absurdly high production budgets and little else.

And I won't even touch the notion of ever remaking JAWS. It's not just about the shark, it's about the characterizations and the relationships of the three men hunting the shark, and that can never be repeated. If they ever remade JAWS I would be first in line to skip it.

Once Upon A Time In America; in two parts by Christopher Nolan. Some of you may think Tarantino is the most logical candidate, but he's ripped up enough Leone scenes in his last few movies.

  13. Martin, a George Romero film about a troubled young man who may or may not be a vampire. The original was OK but undermined somewhat by wobbly acting and bad editing, and given how well some of Romero's other movies have been served by remakes this one seems a natural for a re-do.

Not a remake, but I'd love to see a really well done series of Clive Cussler novel adaptations. I really liked "Sahara", but unfortunately due to gross money mismanagement that potential series was derailed.

Just saw Fast Food nation last night. A huge disappointment. Especially since the book was so compelling.
Yeah I'd like to see that redone

Damnation Alley. The book to me seemed like it should have translated to a good film but the movie starring Jan Michael Vincent was hugely disappointing.

    Three fifties sci fi classics:
    When Worlds Collide (1951)
    This Island Earth (1955)
and "Forbidden Planet" (1956) I'm not sure if a classic like this could actually be improved on,
but it could be interesting, It seems James Cameron was planning on it, but I haven't seen
    anything about it recently.

Someone like Matt Damon could be a good choice as the the male lead.

I don't know enough about surveillance to tell you how, but I suspect a story like this would have to be rethought completely to work with contemporary technology. Which actually is the problem with remaking a lot of old stories -- unless you set them in their original period, technology renders many of the problems the characters have with communicating or finding information moot.
