This reminds me of an episode of Power Puff Girls.

Some new information and a new picture (oh and the sheep character has been replaced with a bird):

New Look at New Muppet Babies | Muppet Fans Who Grew Up - Tough Pigs

I think this looks promising. I hope it retains the spirit and creativity of the original series- if it does, then I think they'll be on the right track.

I watched the original show long after I was out of the age demographic for it just because it was so entertaining and fun.

Here's the first teaser video showing a new character- Summer The Penguin.

I bet the penguin will be a big merchandise seller and popular with kids.

Notice there's no Scooter or Skeeter. Hmm...

Here's the intro. The animation looks terrific- very bright and colorful.

They've been showing shorts of this in between other shows on Disney Junior. The voices sound weird.

I've seen two of them, and it looks like they are trying to return Mickey to being the way he was in the beginning, assertive and a bit of a scamp. I agree they are very good, and the first Mickey Mouse cartoons I've really enjoyed. While Mickey is a good character, until these shorts I've found most of his cartoons (the ones I've seen) to be warm and humorous rather than funny.

(The above refers to later seasons of The Muppet Show).

It could be a issue of legality. It might that some of the guest stars haven't given their approval for a video release of their episodes and so the entire season can't be released.

I think there is a similar issue with The New Scooby-Doo Movies (which featured real-life stars like Sonny & Cher, Mama Cass, Jerry Reed, Jonathan Winters, and Tim Conway). When they released them on video it was called a "Best Of" instead of a season and only featured some of the episodes.

What I think is also related is a kid's book of Here Comes Peter Cottontail which is based on the animated Easter special of the same name. I enjoyed the special as a kid so I decided to look through the book when I saw it on a rack, and while it covers most of the story points, the character of Mr. Sassafras is missing. I suspect that it is because he was voiced by and is based on Danny Kaye in the original special and they could not get the rights to use his likeness in the book.

They did a parody of The Muppet Babies on the series Drawn Together (which is a parody of reality shows where each house resident is character based on a standard-type of animated character: Disney Princess, superhero, video game character, mystery-solving musician, 1930s black & white type character, goofy children's cartoon character, and an offensive internet cartoon). In the episode they do a flashback to when the characters were babies and living in a house with a nanny...it wasn't very pretty.
