Bill Rieflin with King Crimson x4 - feel very fortunate that the 4 times I got to see Crimson, Rieflin was present, first two on drums, latterly on keyboards/fairydusting.

Quite a few, at this point, but the person who I saw alive the closest to their death was Dave Brubeck - he died about 6 months after I saw him.

Thanks for this, as you've made me remember I got to see Francis Bebey's last ever concert (and chatted with him afterwards, in a most bizarre venue and situation) only a few days before his death.

I'm old so the answer is very long (including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, 3 of the members of The Band, 2 of The Who (Keith Moon, John E.), etc.). But I thought I'd list a few slightly less (mainstream) popular entertainers: Tim Buckley, Freddie King, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Tony Joe White (only a month before he died), Rusty Young (with Poco)
