Feel fortunate to have seen Dizzy Gillespie twice -- once with a big band (concert hall) and once with a a small combo (club).
Everyone I've ever seen perform music in hundreds of concerts over 47 years was alive when they went onstage and remained that way throughout the performance. Hundreds of them subsequently passed away, too many to mention. However, in 2004, I attended a dance performance at the Kennedy Center in DC which was stopped after a member of the company collapsed onstage from a heart attack. He died 10 days later without regaining consciousness.
