He and Rhino need to get together and make a box set of ALL of his early demos, solo stuff, random live performances, unreleased versions of Monkees songs that he sang lead on, interviews - pretty much every scrap of tape (audio AND video) that has his voice on it. I'd LOVE an hour-long CD of just his studio banter. I enjoy listening to him being a record producer.

I may have said this before, but I'd spring for a comprehensive "Prince '78-'81" set, containing all the outtakes, etc. from his first four albums. I seriously doubt those albums will ever get deluxe editions like 1999, Purple Rain or Sign o the Times did.

Since that would under Sony's umbrella, get Vic Anesini to master it. Such a neglected catalog of great albums, in my opinion.

There was a JPN box set of the Island Years but it sold out ages ago.
There are plenty non studio album tracks for something elaborate.
But at this point I'd even be happy with straight rereleases of the original Island cds (sounded great) to replace the later issues that labels sourced from mp3s.

Look, if the musicians are so desperate they can have one of my box sets. Not the ones by Miles Davis though, they're stunning.

Good one - there's none. Maybe he's against that, but he has seemingly approved dozens of best ofs.

I like Suicide and The Equals, but I'm liking your post for Half Man Half Biscuit. The complete BBC Sessions would have to be included.

Blur at the BBC would be a great box set, CD and DVDs included.

A Teenage Fanclub B-sides, radio sessions and rarities one is something I'd like to have.

Not an artist - a label. Kicking Mule records (headed by ED Denson & Stefan Grossman) issued a slew of fantastic recordings on LP in the 70s and 80s - solo acoustic fingerstyle guitar, ragtime, blues, mountain banjo, autoharp, dulcimer. Some of these recordings have been re-issued on compilations and CD reissues by Grossman and others since, but large parts of this label’s catalog has never been reissued at all. It really should be. Everything from the catalog that I’ve been able to track down is truly excellent.

It’ll never happen though. The label is defunct, and apparently some of the masters are now owned by Grossman, while others were retained by Denson. It’s probably too difficult to ever again get them under one roof, so to speak.

I think this one - the Slade Box - which didn't actually come in a box - is as comprehensive as we are going to get for Slade.

    3. Mama Weer All Crazee Now / Man Who Speeks Evil
    4. Gudbuy T’Jane / I Won’t Let It ‘appen Agen
    5. Cum On Feel The Noize / I’m Mee, I’m Now, And That’s Orl
    6. Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me / Kill ’em At The Hot Club Tonite
    7. My Friend Stan / My Town
    8. Everyday / Good Time Gals
    9. Far Far Away / O.K. Yesterday Was Yesterday
    10. Night Starvation / When I’m Dancin’ I Ain’t Fightin’

I am lobbying BMG to put out a singles box covering their Fontana period and their start with Polydor.

Cheap Trick did have their 4CD collection, Sex America Cheap Trick, but it's well out of date now.
