Thanks a lot for your kind word.

Since it has a active plasma tweeters, it is like tube to be replaced every 5,000 hours.

Only one person attended invitation to my system on March 16th.

He left his opinion in the other forum.

I made some time to meet Thomas and listen to his setup. There was suppose to be 4 of us. One called ahead sick, another the following day for some reason and one just fell off the earth. If you accept an invitation you are taking a spot others may want. If your not interested, don’t accept. Thomas was rightfully upset. Anyhow, the system.

I have listened to some nice systems in the last 4 ot 5 years. Only 1 made tears come to my eyes. That was a gigantic horn system playing Dylan. Thomas’s was the second. What really surprised me was it was to a Elvis song. It was a slow ballad. "I am so lonesome tonight". I’m not an Elvis fan, but the Lanche speakers and Line Magnetic amp produced such a strikingly real, Elvis is in the house play, it took me by surprise. There is something about how clean and dynamically quick the Lanche play. Voices are spooky real. If you closed your eyes, it would be hard to tell Charlie’s setup from a live singer through a PA.

Thomas played some other small scale music. Mostly vocal with limited Instruments. I then asked him to play The Nutcracker. Call me weird. I have about 6 versions of that album. Never have I heard such a breath of life like the Lanche /Line M put out. You can hear the hall like your in it. Out of all the great systems I have heard, this was at the top of the close your eyes and your in the symphony sound . It was so, so real. I’m pretty impressed with what the Corona Plasma tweeter can do.

Everything was CD playback and the system was room processed and equalized to hand off below 50 hertz to a basic PSB sub. I’m excited about this as I’m about to biamp my speakers which means I will be using an active crossover. I liked what I heard so I hope what I make at home works somewhat as well.

In all, high praise to Charlie for a well tuned, top class system to enjoy.

Nice looking set up. One question, do you get a lot of boomeness from the walls and openness of your home?

2 suggestions for next time: (1) you need to offer some drinks to your guests (in full honesty I would never go to a place that the host says that he is going to offer “1 beer per person” - doesn’t sound welcoming if you know what I mean - no wonder people called in sick), (2) consider live streaming the event as suggested before by another fellow, especially for the unfortunate out of state fellows that have to go through life without having listened to your system :)

    Hello,
I'm new here. Message to OP ThomasKong: That's a really impressive system you've assembled. Congratulations! If I lived on the West coast, I would've loved to have heard your setup. Judging by the gear you've owned over the years, it appears we have much in common (even our listening rooms appear similar!). If you'll allow me a brief preface: Now in my early seventies, I suffered a rather uncommon malady referred to by ENT types as SLH (Sudden Loss of Hearing -- and they haven't a clue as to its cause; went stone deaf in my left ear in about an hour, followed by massive vertigo and nausea). Needless to say, this was an audiophile's worst nightmare. As a result of the trauma, I very reluctantly got rid of all my precious gear. Well (miracle dictu), miraculously, my hearing in the affected ear is slowly returning to normal (against all medical prognoses). Obviously, I'm now kicking myself for having disposed of my gear. My apologies for the wearisome narrative on my personal ails, but I felt I needed to explain why I'm reaching out to you.

I'm starting pretty much from scratch (save my HT setup, which, thankfully, remains intact). After much research (on the 'latest' gear), I've decided on all the components I intend to purchase -- except for the Power Conditioner. To my thinking, selecting a really good PC is of utmost importance. At one time or another, I think I've tried them all over the past half century(!) -- except (it seems) the Spiritual Audio piece you have in your setup. I'd never heard of them. I've read some very impressive things about this piece of kit, but there aren't really any substantive reviews that I can find. Digging deeper, I came across your post on this forum. Given your experience, and the caliber of your system, I've no doubt you had very good reasons for selecting this particular PC. Since this likely will be the last PC I'll purchase (I'm well past the tiresome 'upgraditis' routine), I intend to get it right. I would be hugely appreciative if you could shed a little light on the merits of this piece of gear -- to wit, why someone such as you (who's also likely tried 'em all) would settle on this particular make over the plethora of competitors out there. Many thanks in advance for your time. Please feel free to send me a PM should you so choose (not sure if that's doable on this forum). Thank you.
