Yeah, a Canadian copy on Point. I never see the Soma, especially that I could afford.

Give me Genesis and Yes over Pavement, an insufferable pretentious Japanese noise "artist" or another 60s garage act rehashing the Louie Louie riff, any time, any day

I'm too old to be worried about being cool. Matter of fact, I might be coming up on being cool all over again, accidentally.

Actually I probably am still a bit of a snob, but a lot better than I was :). Never going to like Queen though - I saw them live at Knebworth back in 86 and I hated every minute.

Seriously though, I have a similar music collection, not as big, but well above average and far more than any of my friends. For my age, taking into account I wasn't around when these records were released, I have a lot of rarities and classics too, also spanning the 1950s (1952 to be exact) to the present. I'm around the 2500 albums mark and have around the same on CD. I don't think it makes me cool though, passionate and knowledgeable yes, but not cool.

If it was cool more people would be impressed rather than bored when I drone on passionately about music and vinyl!

Yep I like it all now - in fact I have gone through a love - hate - love phase with both Genesis and Yes

I can always dig rehashed "Louie Louie" on some level.

Yes are a strange one with me. I like most of The Yes Album a lot, but really struggle to get through the very highly regarded Fragile and Close To The Edge albums. Phenomenal musicianship, but it all just seems too much for me.

I don't know much Genesis. My Dad loves them and Yes.

This. Amazing how many people these days don't have a record collection to speak of at all.

The more I think about it...the OP thinks his/her record collection is "cool" because he/she has a Quicksilver Messenger Service album? o_Oo_Oo_O

Well, a glance at my collection would likely reveal a bunch of Kiss records, some Christmas albums, and a Super Deluxe box of "Sgt Pepper" that some consider "garbage".

In short, the only way my collection would be deemed "cool" is if:

    1. Someone asks me if it's cool.
    2. They notice that most the collection is sitting under the air conditioning vents! :uhhuh:

  17. I haven't really listened to it in ages tbh, but looking at the cover I always worry! LOL!

Saying your collection is cool is not cool.

Let's face it....the only way to prove an album is cool is if our Host has mastered or remastered the album. Until then, its cool factor is questionable.

True. I think that and Catch Bull At Four are his two masterpieces.

  22. Cipollina was a great player, distinct sound, influential at the time and probably on Tom Verlaine/Television.

If you look on my record shelves it looks like I have no Beatles, Stones, Who, Hendrix, Dylan, Ella Fitzgerald, Queen, Peggy Lee, Bowie, T.Rex, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC or Iron Maiden but I have a lot of records by all of these. They're all covered up in cases.

I put all my "uncool" albums (no doubt several) down to a "diverse" musical taste....now, where did I put that Herb Alpert with the frothy cover ?
