FREAKS & GEEKS was kinda shocking to me, in that the creator(s) got it so right. The episode with the hated gym teacher dating the character's mother rang so true, right down to their arguing over the humor of Bill Murray. I wasn't sure that adolescent angst was entertaining, but it was damn accurate.

Unfortunately, the show also well-sprung a lot of awful Hollywood comedies and annoying celebrities, but the original show is remarkable.

Freaks and Geeks is a gem, and should win this by a mile.
Also, Bill and Lindsay should have most of the character votes all sewn up too.

Freaks & Geeks, terrific series. There are a couple of episodes, including the aforementioned gym teacher one, that are among the single greatest episodes of any series.

Freaks and geeks is a classic show. I couldn't get past one episode of the other one as I found the character whiny and unlikable.

Run a poll on this board and people will vote. People don't want to go to a separate site...

I liked F&G at the time and would like to watch from the beginning again, but I can't find it on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime or Apple TV+, the streaming services I subscribe to. Where might one find it?

Only 7 voters when I voted. Everything was in line with my selections except I picked Linsday over Bill for best overall character. Was kinda surprised by the preferences for Bill but my favorite male character as well. F&G the far superior show, could only stand the first few episodes of MSCL.

"My So-Called Life" was excellent. I need to re-watch my DVD's.

Wrt the pole, seems like very different genre than "Freaks & Geeks" to me.

I would have to go with Freaks, because My So Called life was a terrible attempt to pander to the late gen xers grunge era teen angst. I was 1 year out of high school and I found it to be lame. It was like thirtysomething for high school.

You could stop looking to get it for free and buy the DVD set.

Fair enough, but it remains true that a poll will get much, much more traffic if it's generated on this site.

People don't wanna go to another site!

I probably wouldn't watch it more than once, but thanks for your incredibly helpful comment.

I actually bought the F&G box set. Really liked the show. Apatow got a lot of it right. I liked AJ Langer in the other show, but too much navel gazing, was out after a about three episodes. Clare Danes has been great in Homeland, although that show is getting a little long in the tooth. I think this is the final season of that one upcoming,

How is looking for it on paid subscription services equal to looking to get it for free?

Calling it thirtysomething for high school isn't a bad description, but there is absolutely nothing pandering about the show. I really don't think the two shows we're voting on are comparable.

"F&G" is more Feig than Apatow - Feig created it. Both were heavily involved but I think that's more a Feig project.

    Apatow created the good-but-not-as-good "Undeclared"...

Seems Apatow talks more about the show, he was the producer IIRC, but yes, Feig was the creator. Six of one, half dozen of the other, I guess. Never watched an episode of Undeclared.
