You're probably right but it's too disturbing a movie for me so I pick Out of the Past.

Someone has to say it, Hedley Lamarr in Blazing Saddles.

Denzel Washington - his best acting performance for me was Malcom X

My choice is from left field....I know Deborah Kerr got the Academy Award nomination, but I though Mitchum just nailed his role perfectly in Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison

Kirk Douglas was also great in Out of the Past. But who doesn't want to say "I am Spartacus"

Well Jason Statham doesn’t rely on camera tricks. More authentic KA.

Pity that a movie with such a stellar cast missed the boat.

It's easier to start with a lesser actor and then identify either the movie with his/her best performance, or the best movie they appeared in

He doesn’t do the Sherlock trick in equalizer 2. What I love about both films is that he’s never in much danger. There’s no suspense. He just kicks everyone’s a—— lol. It’s very enjoyable.

As a film enthusiast and someone who had studied cinema to the degree that Film Production and Studies were the area my principle college focus and undergraduate degree and having for a time worked with the initial incarnation; when there were just 3 of us and has since swelled to hundreds of employees with a budget I'd guess in the 100s of thousands (we had to supply our own notebooks and pens) of New York's Film and Television Initiative I appreciate your thought. I sort of got hooked on this thread for obvious reasons although my main focus on this site has always been the music side. You note I have referenced actors well known and not of lesser renowned. I do believe I introduced along the way some of the "lesser" actors. As an example Ben Gazarra in Peter Bagdanivitch's Saint Jack and Belmondo's performance in Breathless and Andy Griffith's in A Face in the Crowd; none really lesser; as well as *not an actor; but in the hope to expand the thread... did you see my nod to James Wong Howe the great; the greatest in my opinion cinematographer of the "Golden Age". As the thread progressed, as is not unusual, the posts; my meaning has no judgment associated with it; the depth of the posts became less in depth of the subject/the topic and I simply responded to the direction of the posts so as they could be appreciated and understood by the greatest number those who happened upon the thread and took any interest in it.

I would be thrilled to delve into the careers of lesser know actors and there filmographies if you would care to reconstitute and comment in that direction. I might have missed it as I haven't recently backtracked or even checked in with the thread as it has progressed so I have not seen any of your posts pinpointing the best films of more obscure actors.

Yeah, it's the best I've ever seen of Brad Dourif. What a brilliant characterization. But as Deadwood is a TV series, it doesn't fit the premise of the OP's question.
