If it's my turn, then "Adolf Hitler".
Edit: "Delroy Wilson" is in the same song.
The Clash - (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais
Excellent! You got it without the additional clue.
I like the Clash
Do you want to take another. I have to roll
Cadillac Ranch – Bruce Springsteen
Let's make this a bit of a chain:
Grey Cortina - Tom Robinson Band
Don't know any songs that mention Tom Robinson
1985 - "Bowling for Soup"
Brucie Springsteen, actually!
"The Gift" - Velvet Underground
... literally beat me to it by seconds!
You Better You Bet or All The Young Dudes
Mott the Hoople, "All the Young Dudes"? Dammit, beaten to the punch again!
You missed out again! You need to sharpen those reflexes.
Porcupine Tree - Piano Lessons
Clues are good!
Can be right away or later if no one is guessing it.
And thanks for clarifying things while I was asleep. Seems to be going well now.
Also the first words of the OP have now been changed so should be clearer.
Not the one I was thinking of, but I'll take your word for it.
That's why I was thinking 'a bit of chain' (is it a chain with two links? anyway...) The one I was thinking of for 'Bruce Springsteen' was Randy Newman's magnificent 'My Life is Good' where Bruce takes a holiday and Rand gets to be the Boss for awhile.
I would hope after 50+ years in the biz there might be a song or two that mention Randy Newman by name, but I can't OTOH think of any.
Edit: Yes I can, might post it later (if I ever get another one right!)
Anyway, we're on...
Where's AOTM? This one should be his.
"Year Of The Cat" by Al Stewart
Haven't read pages 2-4; hope this one hasn't been done:
Lon Chaney, Jr.
