Roll Over Beethoven
...and tell Tchaikovsky the news yada yada yada
Okay, as promised:
– Randy Newman
I never heard of Jagged Edge.
The song I had in mind was "The World Is Just a B Movie" by Bob Lind.
Christine Keeler, too.
That's an even better choice than my original thought which was " Postcards from Richard Nixon" by Elton John.
Either "Do You Want To Play" by Jewel
"Use It Up" - The Tragically Hip
Not certain if this one was answered yet (my apologies if it was) but it's "Where Are They Now?" by the Kinks
Yep, Jewel was the one I had in mind, the unlikely subject of the song having "pictures of Randy Newman scattered all across the floor".
Clue - solo artist release from someone who was in a vintage 70's band that was strongly influenced by the Kinks (except without the sense of humour...)
It was but it was a song by another band that was answered. I was thinking of the Kinks song in my question.
... and it was not just any other band, it was Porcupine Tree!
No disrespect to your taste and to the band. I had just not heard of them before and I was too lazy to go back and check the name. Good song you posted.
Extending the clues...
Clue - solo artist release from someone who was in a vintage 70's band that was strongly influenced by both the Kinks and the Who (except without the sense of humour...)
Second clue in reference to vintage 70's band - RAF logo used extensively...
He left this band, formed a duo, and then went solo...
Who is the solo artist and what is the title of the tune which references Edward Hopper?
Spoiler: : : click here for original answer : : :
"Lucky Star" - Odyssey
That's a lot of Edward Hopper clues, but still no takers!
It's been an hour so I'll post Marlon Brando again (excluding Bowie, Elton and Neil!)
Wild Children - Van Morrison
Lol, another one to exclude next time!
"Summertime In England" by Van Morrison
Beaten by Randy... Carry on!
Note: I wasted too much time wondering if the tune that I was thinking of was "You Don't Pull No Punches, But You Don't Push The River" or a Kinks/Ray Davies tune that I can't for the life of me think of...
Note: If there are multiple choices that could be considered to be considered "correct" answers perhaps adding a clue leading towards the specific request may be beneficial.
William Blake: Solved
Pistol Pete and O.J.
Just might do that next time.
I've got one for the next time you post it, if I'm not in a deep sleep by then.
Another Van the Man song is the one I had in mind, might save that 'til next time.
