Always thought Message in a Bottle - Police and Atomic - Blondie were perfect pop songs.

 

Stones - She Smiled Sweetly.
Beatles - Here Comes The Sun.
Big Star - September Gurls.
Dylan - Just Like A Woman.
Blondie - Sunday Girl.
Squeeze - Vicky Verky.
Smiths - Girlfriend in a Coma

Such an underrated band (or artist...)
He should have been bigger in the US but alas, it was the era of grunge and slick dance club music.

It doesn't get any more perfect than this. Maybe a little too perfect.

 

Yeah, I was expecting the chorus to come a little sooner. The beginning verse seemed a little too long.

To me, this song ranks up there with The Flamin' Groovies-"Shake Some Action" as one of the best Power Pop songs of all time.

Elvis Costello with hat and beard on SNL and a perfect pop song. I still can't believe this song and album are not more loved. He was on fire!

I always think of The Kinks’ Better Things as the perfect pop song. Short, simple and upbeat. Have loved it from the first time I heard it, and straight pop is usually not my thing.
