Here's one that to me sums up what music is all about: Triumph-Magic Power.

    I'm young, I'm wild and I'm free
I've got the magic power of the music in me

todd rundgren had a real knack for this type of song, just look at all the examples in this thread but unless i missed it " Couldn't I Just Tell You" floats my boat

And yet another one of those “perfect” love songs...Taylor’s passionate delivery of the chorus never fails to move me...beautiful stuff...

This new one by Weyes Blood is pretty close to perfect for me. Karen Carpenter meets Brian Wilson.

    I love The Smithereens...
but, "Modern" era? o_O I suppose in relation to the 60s, but maybe it would've just been better to either leave that out, or list as late 80s-90s.

Know era's was left open-ended for thread responses; otherwise, has this OP weighed in on any posts? There are thousands of pop songs (perhaps hundreds of thousands). Were they looking for similar sounding songs to
the ones they'd posted, or songs done by a rock band that were more pop-flavored?

On Goo Goo Dolls, I'd go w/Slide over Iris:
