Rise Against's State of the Union is one of the most intense 2 minutes of music you will come across...
Very familiar with the song, thank you. I’m still convinced that a lot of the material on the debut is heavier.
1.Mott The Hoople / Death May Be Your Santa Claus (1972)...the best song from the best band off of the best hard rock LP of the early 1970s 2.Clash / Should I Stay Or Should I Go...the Clash could do it all.Period. 3.Stones / Street Fighting Man (1970) Crushes anything else found on GYYYO...pre-historic Punk ala the Pistols 4.Allman Bros / Whippin Post (1969) The heaviest piece of American white boy Blues ever recorded 5.Fleetwood Mac / The Green Manalishi (1970) so fn 'eavy Judas Priest covered it 6.Lynyrd Skynyrd / Workin For MCA...one of their few songs that was better studio than live 7.J.Geils Band / Night Time (1980) Their remake of the Strangeloves hit was definitive & one of the bands finest studio moments 8.NYCH / Hey Hey My My (Into The Black) ('79) Of course it could have just as well been Sedan Delivery also 9.Cream / Spoonful (Mono UK-66 & US-67)...the trios heaviest studio moment 10.The Grand Funk Railroad / Paranoid (1969) Predating Black Sabbath by a year both in title & siren... Of all the GFR heaviness this is the bands premier hour.Period.
Musically heavy, or blows your mind heavy? For the latter, these verses of Dylan's Idiot Wind make up the heaviest bit of music I've ever heard. I can't feel you anymore I can't even touch the books you've read Every time I crawl past your door I been wishin' I was somebody else instead Down the highway, down the tracks Down the road to ecstasy I followed you beneath the stars Hounded by your memory And all your ragin' glory I been double-crossed now For the very last time and now I'm finally free I kissed goodbye the howling beast On the borderline which separated you from me You'll never know the hurt I suffered Nor the pain I rise above And I'll never know the same about you Your holiness or your kind of love And it makes me feel so sorry Idiot wind Blowing through the buttons of our coats Blowing through the letters that we wrote Idiot wind Blowing through the dust upon our shelves We're idiots, babe It's a wonder we can even feed ourselves
Always thought Iron Man by Black Sabbath. Of course there are couple from the first Black Sabbath album that would be close seconds.
