    1. “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein”
    2. “Dracula” 1931
    3. “The Fearless Vampire Killers” !
    4. “Near Dark”
    5. “Fright Night” (original, c’mon who would pick the remake?)

Love the Hammer pictures. They looked great, wonderful atmosphere, great casting but I always found myself wishing that they were just better films.

I don't think this has been mentioned yet. I haven't seen it in ages, but loved it as a kid.

While I didn't rank it in my Top Five, (& it wouldn't make my Top Ten, maybe it would be in my Top Twenty), I really enjoy this film, well enough to have gotten it used on DVD. It's an interesting, if flawed attempt by Hammer to resuscitate their vampire franchise, & it's actually a lot of fun.

Between this, the "Karnstein Trilogy", (The Vampire Lovers, Lust For A Vampire & Twins Of Evil), Vampire Circus & The Legend Of The Seven Golden Vampires, Hammer really tried to inject their vampire franchise with new blood, (pun intended). The results were uneven, but a lot of fun, & with Twins Of Evil, Vampire Circus & Legend, they succeeded to an extent.

Well the best one ever is Dracula - Christopher Lee

    2) Dusk Till Dawn
    3)Blade
    4)Blade 2
    5) The Lair of The White Worm

The latter is a cheap badly acted Ken Russell film. Its that bad its good.

The hottest vampire - Amanda Donohoe

This always makes me laugh the way she kills the boy scout

lair of the white Worm, a favorite Ken Russel. Nobody can do a shocking , exhilarating, nerve juicing set piece like he could.

I just got this blu ray and will give it a watch tonight. Haven't seen it since it played in the 80s but I remember liking the crazy.

Yes especially Crimes Of Passion (Naughty Kathleen Turner lol) had to get it on Anchor Bay R1 i dont think the uncut version is available in the UK and The Devils another film i had to hunt down the full uncut version on DVD . The censorship board in the UK didn't think much of Ken Russell.

Yup, Crimes Of Passion is another one I enjoy. I'm not sure about the situation with The Devils. I've read on various boards that the full, uncut version is still not available and the discs that were released in the past that purported to be uncut were still missing one or more scenes. Makes my head spin.

You can get it uncut mine is the complete version with the Rape of Christ scene put back in it and a couple of others.

My DVD is called.. The Devils - Special Uncut Restored Edition. My decice will not paste pics on websites. Its a white cover i am pretty sure its a European DVD everything is in English. If you want this full version you may have to go trawling on ebay get it from a UK seller.

It says Euro Cult on the back of it. I cant read the rest of it at the bottom of the DVD cover the writing is too small.

This is deffo uncut. I am not sure which boards you read about this movie. This forum?

You should be able to get it on line somewhere. Ebay is the best bet.

Mostly Blu ray.com message boards. The film isn't a must buy for me so I'll probably hold out for a possible BR down the line.

I thought you was after it when you said it makes your head spin round. Sometimes better to download movies get em for free. The Devils is a weird and wondeful movie the sets are amazing and the film is much better with the banned scenes put back in their rightful places.

I've actually never seen the film but after reading back and forth comments about differing versions, well that always makes my head spin. I'm interested just to see what all the controversy is about, plus Ken Russell is a definite draw.

It’s tough to pin down 5. But I’ll try
    Salem’s Lot
    Fright Night
    Dracula ‘79
    Return of Count Yorga
    The Night Stalker

No Hammer films made the cut for the simple reason that all of them are really good and it’s impossible for me to choose any one over the others. Twins of Evil? Kronos? Kiss of the Vampire? Which Dracula? Too difficult. So in effect this is a Top 10 non-Hammer vampire list. Also, Love at first Bite would have been a shoo in if it wasn’t a comedy. It’s one of my favorites.

The Eureka release from the UK is worth it and I think still available (and region free). It’s as good as the limited edition you are talking about, if not even better.

The remake isn’t terrible, but I gotta say that I have a HUGE problem with how they wrote Amy that time around. The original Amy had her faults. The new Amy was a nerd boy’s fantasy girl. She was simply too perfect. She felt like she was written by someone that has never had a real conversation with a girl in their entire life.
